I just wanted to let everyone know that we have an Expert League Draft today starting at 9am EST (June 1st, 2007). We organized a league with some of the best fantasy Sites on the Web, from Footballguys.com’s Chris Smith and Clayton Gray, to the guys at FantasySharks.com, CBSSportsline.com, FFToolbox.com and more (below is the complete list of Sites involved).
Feel free to follow the draft LIVE and as it happens. We have already made a blockbuster trade with FantasyInsights, where we traded our 1.6 and 3.6 for their 1.01 and 5.01. Our picks are now 1.01, 2.07, 4.07, 5.01, 5.06, and then we are back to normal with one pick right around the middle of each round.
We basically moved our #6 up to #1, and all we had to do was move our #30 down to #49. The difference between the wide receivers at those spots are like an Anquan Boldin (#30) and a Plaxico Burress (#49). Granted the the runners at #30 could be a lot better than the runners left at #49, but it is well worth it given that we now own LaDainian Tomlinson (or will in a few hours). This move was huge for us.
Be sure to swing by our FFXtreme Forums, where we have a thread created for this draft. Comment, suggest and just talk about the draft! Just make sure you check it out.

Note: Obviously a few trades have gone down, as FFMastermind.com has two first-round picks and we have the 1.01 when we pulled the #6 out of the hat.
Our strategy in the late second-round will be to land a running back like Maurice Jones-Drew or Ronnie Brown, but if such a rusher isn’t available, we won’t hesitate to go against the norm and roll with the forbidden RB/WR Strategy. This league allows you to start 2RBs, 3WRs and 1Flex (rb/wr), so rushers are very important, but so are WRs in such a format. Don’t get me wrong, we won’t pass on a solid RB2 talent, but if we aren’t excited about the RB options left when on the clock at #19, we will absolutely roll with a Carson Palmer or Steve Smith without thinking twice. This strategy really puts us in a jam come time to fill that RB2 spot, and it certainly will leave us thin at our RB3 spot, but this is that year where the stud WRs are falling almost too far, thus forcing most of the top RBs to go faster than normal. We want guaranteed production to pair up with LaDainian Tomlinson – we aren’t about to waste our second-round pick.
Enjoy the draft everyone and feel free to give us your input on the forum topic. We may actually kick this draft off early right now just to get things moving.
