Below are players that are On The Rise and On The Decline in the world of fantasy football. Note that the Monday Night game is still to come, but the players listed below have already played their week 3 games — It’s never too early to dig into the upcoming week, so let’s get right into the player values for week 4 looking forward.
Marion Barber | RB DALLast week I posted on our Forums that Barber was one of my favorite sneaky RB2s entering week 3.. well, he isn’t so sneaking anymore, as he has racked up over 300 total yards and 5TDs in just the first three games of the season. If you invested last week, congrats! For those that are interested in acquiring the runner now, he may just be too costly to trade for at this point… but it doesn’t hurt to try. Be sure to run all your trade ideas by the regulars on our Fantasy Football Forums. Tavaner and Craphonso, our forum moderators, are also all over the forums all the time. They dish out great advice on a daily basis.
Lee Evans | WR BUFEvans has killed fantasy owners so far this year, as he again bombed in week 3 catching 1 pass for 7 yards. Evans has just 5 catches this season for 29 yards! That is just awful! That said, there are always two sides to every situation, and Evans is a guy you want to attack now via trade if the price is right. Odds are, he we will be treated like a WR3, and even though Losman could be out for more than a few weeks, Evans shouldn’t be written off as a WR2. Personally, I’m going to attack him in every Expert League I’m in, especially in the dynasty leagues. At a bargain price, he is well worth the risk.
Ronnie Brown | RB MIABrown was fantastic on Sunday, but because he had such an awful start to the season, I’m afraid a lot of you fantasy owners out there had the runner on your bench in week 3. For those that bought Brown low a week or so ago, it may be time to turn him like hot real estate. Don’t sell too low, but if you can somehow get top 25-type talent for the rusher, consider dealing him while his value is very decent. To be honest, I am not exactly sure what to expect from Brown from here on out, but top ten numbers aren’t likely given that offense is so up and down. If Brown has a solid match-up, he may be good for 100 and a touch… if he has a rough match-up, he might struggle to get even 15 carries.
Larry Johnson | RB KCJohnson is off to an extremely slow start, rushing for just 140 yards in 3 games. While it is tough to predict (with any confidence) when the stud will finally breakout, I can say that now is the time to buy. Package a McGahee and something together and go get the runner while his value is at an all-time low. Will he get back to at least top 5-8RB-type status soon? That is tough to say, but I’d imagine it is worth the risk if that price is right. Attack it and be sure to post your offers on our Forums before you pull the trigger. You can never get too much advice on a trade!
Donovan McNabb | QB PHIHe’s back! McNabb bounced-back in a major way on Sunday, tossing for 381 yards and 4TDs. The signal caller took a shot to the back in the first-half, but he obviously wasn’t too affected as he continued on and absolutely dominated that Lions’ defense. McNabb should be considered a top 3-4QB looking forward. If you still have any doubts about McNabb this year, stop!
Cadillac Williams | RB TBCaddy owners could be in some serious trouble, as the runner sat out the last few drives on Sunday due to a case of the fumbles and a rib injury. He did score a touchdown and carried the ball 12 times for 46 yards, but one has to seriously question whether Caddy can ever hold-up as a full-time starter in this league. Now, with the emergence of Ernest Graham, it may be best to trade Caddy before his value takes a big dive. We wouldn’t advise that you sell him low, but because the warning signs are screaming everyone in the face, you may have to get creative to get a deal done. For example, we advised one fantasy owner to try and deal Caddy for the struggling Maroney. The owner that he offered this to told him that there was no way, but we ended up coming up with a creative Romo/Bulger swap and the other owner slowly rationalized the RB swap. Combo-type deals can often distort one’s thinking.
Marshawn Lynch | RB BUFLynch is about to see some increased fantasy value. His first three match-ups were rough, as he faced Denver, Pittsburgh and New England. He has played a lot better than his stats suggest, even though he has scored two touchdowns so far this year. Even with Losman out for at least 2-3 weeks (if not longer), Lynch is going to go nuts next week against the Jets — His value is sure to explode after his week 4 outing and he won’t be near the bargain that he is right now.
