Below are players that are On The Rise and On The Decline in the world of fantasy football. Note that the Monday Night game is still to come, but the players listed below have already played their week 5 games — It’s never too early to dig into the upcoming week, so let’s get right into the player values for week 6 looking forward.
Maurice Jones-Drew| RB JAC Jones-Drew went nuts against the Jags on Sunday on a limited amount of carries, as he ran the ball 9 times for 82 yards and a touchdown. He also added 3 catches for 30 yards. Imagine if he got 20 carries a game! It is tough to say what will happen from this point forward, but Jones-Drew is a solid RB2 in week 6 as the Jags play at home against the Texans.
Larry Johnson | RB KC Johnson and the Chiefs were AWFUL on Sunday and L.J. is letting fantasy owners down in a major way this year. Will things eventually turn around? Well, that isn’t an easy question to answer, but I just can’t advise fantasy owners to trade Johnson while his value is this low. You just won’t get enough! On the flip side, go get Johnson in your leagues if the price is right. Don’t sell the farm to get him on your roster, but if you can somehow grab Johnson at bargain-value, make the move! Not sure what is a bargain? Post your offers/ideas on our Forums! He just had a solid game last week, there is no reason to think that Johnson can’t eventually produce like a top 10 back. Hopefully Croyle will get in there soon and start creating a deep-threat presence that will open up the running game for Johnson and that Chiefs’ rushing attack.
Brandon Jacobs | RB NYG Jacobs was fantastic in his first game back from injury (of course after he shook off his early fumble)… that said, we still won’t back down from our prediction that Jacobs won’t start more than 8 or so games total if he gets 15-20 carries per game. This monster outing should have elevated Jacobs’ trade-value… if you can get a lot for him, consider making the move. Not sure what “a lot” is? Post your trade offers/ideas on our Forums and see what our staff and FFX regulars think!
LaDainian Tomlinson | RB SD Tomlinson is on the decline, but this is something that should be taken advantage of if you aren’t a Tomlinson owner. L.T. is averaging just 65 rushing yards per game on 5 starts, which has some fantasy owners freaking out. Try to trade a Brian Westbrook or Willie Parker straight-up for Tomlinson — you might catch an owner sleeping or off-balance. Tomlinson will be just fine and should finish inside the top 3 for RBs, if not #1, at week 16’s end.
