Smitty’s Week 6 Studs & Duds

Smitty’s Projections
RB Ronnie Brown
(@CLE)
125/35 yards, 2TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Cleveland is 3rd to last in the NFL against the runner, as they give up 157.4 yards per game on the ground. Brown looks fantastic and should be good for at least 100 and a score. Brown is a top 5 start at the RB position entering week 6 — easy!

Smitty’s Projections
RB Cedric Benson
(vs. MIN)
54/8 yards, 0 TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Benson actually ran with more authority in week 5, but that won’t help him this week as he faces the #1 defense in the entire NFL against the run. The Vikings allow just 62 rushing yards per game. Benson is a bench candidate in week 6 if you have a solid option in waiting.
Player
Match-Up
Smitty’s Projections
RB Larry Johnson
(vs. CIN)
125/12 yards, 2TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Ok, Johnson has looked awful, but he faces the 4th worst rushing defense in the entire NFL in week 6 in Cincy. The Bengals give up over 150 yards per game on the ground, so Johnson should have every opportunity to bounce-back in this one. Johnson did rush for over 100 yards in week 4, so things are quite as bad as they look. Point is, don’t sell low, but do buy the runner low — he is well worth the risk!

Smitty’s Projections
RB Brian Leonard
(@BAL)
35/12 yards, 0TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football I had Leonard pegged as a bust candidate last week, he actually performed well. That won’t happen this week, as the Rams face the Ravens. Baltimore gives up just 66 rushing yards per game, so don’t expect much AT ALL from Leonard in week 6.
Player
Match-Up
Smitty’s Projections
RB LaDainian Tomlinson
(vs. OAK)
145/20 yards, 3TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Tomlinson is a guy to trade for right now - He hasn’t been a stud yet in 5 straight games, but all that is about to change. The Chargers finally got a win and they will be looking to pound the rock in week 6 against the 26th ranked rushing defense. The Raiders surrender 129.5 yards per game, so expect L.T. to bust over that total entering the 4th quarter. I have a feeling this will be one of those 3TD games. Welcome to the Welcome Back Show!
Player
Match-Up
Smitty’s Projections
RB Thomas Jones
(vs. PHI)
45/8 yards, 0TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football It might be time for the Leon Washington show, because Thomas Jones isn’t doing anything. He has had some very favorable match-ups so far this season, but has yet to live up to expectations. Thomas Jones faces the Eagles in week 6 (6th in the NFL against the run), so the disappointment won’t stop this weekend.

Ballgame’s Week 6 Studs & Duds

Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
QB Brian Griese
(vs. MIN)
275 passing yards, 3TDs, 0 INTs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Griese should shred the league’s third-worst passing defense in week 6. The Vikes specialize in shutting down the run, but they are awful against the pass. Griese should come close to 300 yards and could have a 2-3TD game. This won’t happen every week, but if you are without your starter, this is a great week to gamble on Griese.
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
RB Marion Barber
(vs. NE)
55/15, 0 TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football New England is tough against the run, so I don’t like Barber this week. After this week, consider trading for him, though. I really like Barber this year and two straight weeks without much scoring should put a dent in his trade value. Go get him then.
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
QB Donovan McNabb
(@NYJ)
345 passing yards, 3TDs, 0 INTs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football McNabb has been hit or miss this year, but the Eagles should produce in week 6 against the Jets. Start Westbrook, Curtis and McNabb in all leagues! Heck, you should even start Reggie Brown in larger leagues.
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
RB Cedric Benson
(vs. MIN)
60/5 yards, 0TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Benson doesn’t stand a chance against Minnesota’s run-stop. No chance! They give up just 62.0 yards per game, and Benson may not even reach that average. He is playing below average in my opinion. Dump Benson while you can, just get the most you can out of him!
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
WR Larry Fitzgerald
(vs. CAR)
7 rec, 95 yards, 1TD
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football AZ looks pretty good. That is tough to say, but it is true. The Cards D is playing extremely tough and Warner is efficient. Expect big numbers out of that Cards passing attack in week 6 against a struggling Panthers squad.
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
RB Ernest Graham
(vs. TEN)
45/12, 0TDs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football A lot of fantasy owners are going to be experimenting with Ernest Graham this week, as he is now the new starter in Tampa, but I’m afraid that the back won’t do much against the league’s third best rushing defense (Tennessee). The Titans are only giving up 72 yards per game. Graham isn’t going to do much on Sunday, I’m sorry to say.
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
QB Kurt Warner
(vs. CAR)
325 passing yards, 3TDs, 1 INT (1 fumble)
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football Warner may not last the season, but he will play well until that pinky breaks down! I love Warner’s match-up this week against the Panthers. Carolina is in the bottom ten in the league against the pass (giving up 233.6 yards per game), so expect Warner and Fitz to connect a lot in week 6.
Player
Match-Up
Ballgame’s Projections
QB Brett Favre
(vs. WAS)
225 yards, 1TD, 3 INTs
studs-of-the-week-fantasy-football I know this won’t be a popular "bust" pick, but Washington is playing tough defense right now and they only give up 182 yards per game through the air. I love Green Bay this year and I think they will continue to play well all season — they may even pull off a win here — but I just don’t see Favre having a fantastic fantasy game against that Washington defense. This could be one of those sloppy wins for the Pack!

Ask The Experts: Who Do I Start At Flex?

Adrian Peterson MIN (@CHI) or T.J. Houshmandzadeh (@KC) ?

ASK THE EXPERTS - A questioned asked by a FFX Forum user.
Smitty
The Chiefs are top 5 against the pass, but that might have a lot to do with the fact that teams rush all over them. Still, Housh has seen better match-ups. Now, as for Peterson… The Bears have a TOUGH defense, but they give up just about 100 yards per game on the ground. Well, A.P. isn’t your average runner, so expect him to rise above that stat. Peterson is quickly becoming a dangerous pass-catching back, so expect him to see quite a few targets in the passing game — I believe the rookie will have 140 total yards and a score on Sunday. Start Adrian Peterson.
I like Housh, but this may not be the best week to start him over a runner. Runners always get more touches, especially when they are named Adrian Peterson. The Bears are right around the middle of the league against the run, so I expect an explosive back like Peterson to expose their rushing defense. Start Adrian Peterson.
