Below are players that are On The Rise and On The Decline in the world of fantasy football. Note that the Monday Night game is still to come, but the players listed below have already played their week 6 games — It’s never too early to dig into the upcoming week, so let’s get right into the player values for week 7 looking forward.

fantasy-football-players-on-the-rise Drew Brees | QB NO

Drew Brees and the Saints finally got back on track on Sunday night against the Seahawks. The signal caller threw for 246 yards and 2TDs and finally looked like the potential top 5 fantasy QB that he is. Consider trading for the QB if you are in a jam right now, he may be cheaper than he should be heading into week 7 — Don’t trade away your studs in complex deals just to get Brees on your roster, this advice is for those struggling at the position. Brees is the kind of bargain right now that could save your season.

fantasy-football-players-on-the-decline Larry Fitzgerald & Anquan Boldin | WRs AZ

Both Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin could see a a major decrease in fantasy production if Cardinals QB Kurt Warner (elbow sprain) misses a chunk of time. The good news is that the injury was to Warner’s non-throwing elbow, but if anything is torn, he could be out a while. Hopefully for Fitz and Boldin owners he can play through the injury, or at least return after the Cards much needed bye in week 8.

fantasy-football-players-on-the-decline Tony Romo | QB DAL

Tony Romo has come back down to earth for the moment, but don’t expect him to mingle with the humans for too long. Romo should again rise to top 3-4 status, so we don’t advise that you trade the QB in a panic. It is amazing how quickly some fantasy owners want to dump their studs - don’t fall victim to overthinking. Guys aren’t going to explode every week (unless your name is Tom Brady), so keep Romo as your starter and don’t cash him in. In fact, if you don’t own Romo, it isn’t a bad idea to test the owners that do own him. Not sure what to give up? Post your offers/thoughts on our Fantasy Football Forums, where FFX moderators Tavaner and Craphonso (and myself) will attack your questions throughout the week!

fantasy-football-players-on-the-decline LaMont Jordan | RB OAK

LaMont Jordan is a great runner to trade for right now. His back injury is concerning fantasy owners right now, to the point of panic, and his bye week is going to really hurt fantasy owners who are desperate for a week 7 win. You’re probably asking how a back injury and a bye are helpful to your fantasy squad… well, they aren’t, but both will likely lower the runner’s value enough that he becomes low-risk / high-reward. He is worth the gamble if the price is right, as he was averaging over 100 yards rushing per game through his first four starts… and with his back getting a whole week of rest, now would be the time to acquire LaMont. Not sure what to give up? Post your offers/thoughts on our Fantasy Football Forums.

Hold On To:

  • Franke Gore - A lot of you are freaking out about Gore right now - I see it all over our forums. Don’t! Gore has had his bye and he should remain a top 5 overall fantasy player from week 7 on. If you trade him now, you’re likely trading him low - Not a good idea!
  • Wes Welker - Welker is benefiting from the presence of Randy Moss — And don’t expect it to change much, as teams will not respect Welker over Randy. Welker won’t have 100+ and 2TDs every game, but he will see some nice match-ups all year long due to the presense of Randy Moss
  • Ronnie Brown - You probably already know this, but Ronnie Brown should not be traded. Don’t get the "too good to be true" illness and dump him for a lesser runner and WR. Another bad idea!
  • Maurice Jones-Drew - The speedy runner was on our "on the rise" list last week, and you saw why this week. Keep him on your roster, as you probably won’t get enough for him if you tried trading him. Plus, he could just get better and better. He is a fun player to own and the sky is the limit if he gets the touches.

Top Waiver Wire Grabs Entering Week 7

  1. RB Andre Hall - We told you last week to grab Hall and we will tell you to grab him again, because some of you may not have listened. If you’re rosters are small don’t bother, and certainly don’t take Hall over Selvin Young, but we have scooped up both Young and Hall in a few leagues because we have a funny feeling Shanahan is going to give Hall a shot to start for the Broncos if/when Henry is suspended. This is a guess, which is why this is a “reach” type of move. Will Henry get suspended soon? Well, that is a tough question to answer, as the runner is doing his best to delay what looks like the inevitable, but the word on the wire is that the NFL is going to move forward with the process even though Henry is dragging this situation through the appeal process. Monitor our Fantasy Breaking News on this matter.
  2. RB Jerome Harrison - Harrison isn’t a lock to see carries in the future, but he looks like the best back-up RB in Cleveland. He is worth grabbing if you have a spot to burn.
  3. QB Cleo Lemon - This guy is good, we have said it all year long. Lemon is the best QB on that roster and he gives the Dolphins the best chance to win. It took him a bit to adjust, as it should, but he really moved the ball well and he scored 4 total TDs. If you need a back-up and are in desperate need at the quarterback position, Lemon is worth a grab.
Have a great Monday night!
