Trade ‘EM
With waivers thin it’s time to appreciate the beauty of trades. Three QB’s whose running game has abandoned them are primed to be moved:
Drew Brees (with question’s @ WR)
Brian Griese (7td/6int/no run game) &
Brett Favre (lots of yrds/1td/4int last two weeks) top my list.
Three RB’s who have found a way to do more with less should also prove enticing to other owners:
DeAngelo Williams,
Maurice Jones-Drew, and
Jerious Norwood lead my “sell while they are hot” list.
All three had nice numbers in Week 6, but the carries (10,12,6 respectively) won’t likely increase, so move ‘em now! I’d throw
Derrick Ward in that group as well, especially after the division of carries in the last game.
Also consider moving wide receivers
Dwayne Bowe,
Kevin Curtis,
Nate Burleson and
Devin Hester.
Just be sure you are upgrading!
If you package a resurgent
Williams or
Norwood with
Curtis, or another inconsistent WR, you might find yourself with a
McGahee, or a
Maroney (plus a TE or WR).
Those who land
Maroney will be thrilled to have him once the weather turns nasty in New England.
Target These Guys Via Trade
Quarterbacks
-
Jon Kitna
-
Jay Cutler
-
Tony Romo
Kitna is coming off a bye and his worst game of the year;
Cutler throws for 230 ypg and some owners may be wary of
Romo now that he’s had two less than stellar performances.
Make a strong offer, one you would consider, and you never know what might happen.
Running Backs
-
Willis McGahee
-
Joseph Addai
-
Clinton Portis
-
Marshawn Lynch
-
Shaun Alexander
-
Chester Taylor
-
Laurence Maroney
-
Kevin Jones
-
Steven Jackson
Addai and
Lynch are coming off bye weeks and in
Addai’s case, an injury.
A player coming off a bye week is a good target; players you might not ordinarily think would be available often are (fantasy memories are very short).
Everyone seems to be down on
Portis, but his yards-per-carry is the same as it’s been for the previous two seasons (4.2).
Make a play for
Steven Jackson as well, especially if he’s a scratch late in the week.
Alexander’s next five games look pretty good;
Taylor will get his carries (22/83 vs Chi) and
K.J. returns as the #1 in Det where he was very impressive last season.
Wide Receivers
-
Patrick Crayton
-
Dwayne Bowe
-
Andre Johnson
-
Chris Chambers
-
Marvin Harrison
-
Marques Colston
-
Chad Johnson
Crayton (despite rumors of
Glenn) and
Bowe will continue to produce and throw in the occasional TD;
Chambers has never been surrounded by the talent he now has.
Sure,
AJ may make it back this week, but if he doesn’t that owner may be getting antsy, same with the injured
Harrison and
C.J..
Tight Ends
-
Owen Daniels
-
Greg Olsen

Week 6 was tough with six teams on bye. That situation repeats itself in week 8, so don’t be caught unaware.
Arizona, Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Kansas City, and Seattle have byes week 8.
