According to ESPN, Michael “The Burner” Turner has signed with the Atlanta Falcons, inking a six-year deal worth $34.5 million ($15 million guaranteed).
No Site believes in Turner more than Fantasy Football Xtreme, and no writer on staff expects more of him in 2008 than I do. Last year, before Reggie Bush’s decline in fantasy value, we traded Bush for Michael Turner and Roy Williams in our FFX Dynasty Expert League I. We also own Turner in both our other Dynasty Expert League and the Dirty Dozen Expert League (where we have Turner as a keeper at 13th-round value for two more years). As we just stated on our Breaking News Wire, if you don’t yet believe in the speedster, just check out his Week 5 stats against Denver in 2007, where he ran for 147 yards and a touchdown on just 10 carries. Not enough? How about his 5.5 career yards-per-carry average on 228 carries? Still not enough? How about this fact… Turner has long runs of 83, 74 and 73 with the Chargers, some of the longest runs in Chargers’ history.
Michael Turner is about to become a top 10RB for years and years to come! That’s right, you heard me. His insanely low third- to fourth-round ADP right now is about to jump into the second-round, but in my eyes the guy has first-round upside. Atlanta is a solid fit. The team is in a rebuilding phase, but they have the right people in place to get the job done. The 26 year-old runner has the speed, power, hands and fresh legs to excel in this league. If you listened to us these past two seasons, congrats… you’re about to cash in!
