If you haven’t been paying attention to the 2008 preseason action, and if you don’t know what’s going on around the NFL as of late, have no fear. Here is the latest around the NFL…

The Latest News & Notes Around The NFL

Kurt Warner is the starter in AZ.
Update: Recent News suggests that Whisenhunt has not yet made any quarterback changes. Monitor this via our breaking news all week.

J.T. O’Sullivan is the starter in SF.

There is some concern that Peyton Manning may not be able to start the season, but today news broke suggesting that he will practice for the first time on Tuesday.

Derek Anderson had a concussion last week, Quinn’s start in pre-season cemented Anderson’s role as the starting QB there.

Marc Bulger showed some life this past week-end.

Jake Delhomme directed Carolina to seven straight scoring drives vs. Washington.

Kyle Orton is the Bear starting QB.

Carolina’s run game looks pretty strong - DeAngelo Williams (starter, 60% carries) / Jonathan Stewart (10/100yds vs. Was) are must handcuffs.

DeAngelo Williams is looking more like a solid RB3 these days…but so is Jonathan Stewart on the low end of that spectrum… hello RBBC.

Ricky Williams is the starter in Miami but Brown and he will benefit from Chad Pennington dump off passes to them.

Justin Forsett is someone to watch as Julius Jones is getting less and less 1st team reps.

Tim Hightower has looked good, which will translate into about 100 carries this year unless Edgerrin James goes down.

Ray Rice continues to look good…questions surround Willis McGahee as to whether he knows the play book (I’m serious here guys).

FWP isn’t going anywhere, bump him up.

While Rudi Johnson was out, Chris Perry played - not sure how that will turn out but would go with RB2/RB3 respectively.

Kevin Curtis has surgery for a sports hernia…could be gone for 1/2 the season or more; he’ll miss a minimum of three games.

Desean Jackson and Eddie Royal continue to look to be starters for their respective teams.

Will Franklin has arthroscopic surgery last week, out a couple of regular season games.

Avery and Burton (StL) looked good in exhibition game #3.

Josh Morgan (SF) could start over Bryant Johnson.

Steve Breaston looks to be the #3WR in AZ, he’s fast and fearless…expect Warner to show him some love.

D.J. Hackett hasn’t caught a pass from Jake Delhomme in a preseason game this year.

Drew Carter (OAK) is out for the season.

Ronald Curry becomes (OAK’s) WR2 due to Carter’s injury. Curry is now a WR4…ummm…same as Javon Walker (though he has more potential upside).

Hardy’s hammy set him back in Buffalo. Watch to see if it lingers.

Umenyiora is out for the season. Hello Mathias Kiwanuka.

J. Allen out for about two weeks.

Merriman has a tear in his lateral collateral ligament & a grade-three tear of his posterior collateral ligament; undecided about surgery.

Lofton looks to have won the starting MLB position in Atlanta, monitor him as he could be a two down player early on.

Keith Rivers lead the Bengals in tackles, again. This should happen regularly making him a LB2/3.

Terrell Suggs is back in BAL and looks ready to rebound along with the BAL D/ST. LB2/DE1. depending on position.

Reggie Nelson looks to be a solid DB2 this year.
