K.Boller – if you have him on your team you were a Ravens/Boller fan, still the news about his shoulder not needing surgery is good, though it leaves him out of the short term picture.
J.Delhomme – S.Smith (suspended), R.Robinson (PCK,LCL; 4weeks) J.Carter (IR) Hackett (10 camp practices, but he’s “close”). will have M.Muhammad and D.Jarrett to throw to vs SD.
J.Flacco – starting QB by default?
B.Leftwich – has resurfaced in Pit as the #2 to Roethy.
A.Rodgers – did you know he is a free agent in 2009?
C.Simms – released by TB watch where he lands, he could start for the Bears now, or in however many weeks it takes to learn their playbook.
K.Warner – officially the starter.
V.Young – injured his right hand but continues to be a legit #2 QB.
C.Brown – place on IR by the Texans…now about that for a surprise!
M.Cox – who? the lead blocker for LJ in KC. An undrafted FA. This is good news.
R.Grant – could be rusty in week 1 as he got no pre-season reps after hurting his hamstring. Kudos to those who stuck with B.Jackson.
T.Hightower – has continued to impress and looks to get 8-10 touches per game.
F.Jones – expect him to have a role in the Dal offense this year. While he’ll return kicks in week 1, he’ll be replaced by Stanback/Austin asap as the cowboys feel he is more valuable to the offense than on special teams.
J.Jones/M.Morris – they say in Seahawk country that this is a RBBC…I say keep an eye out for Forsett.
W.McGahee – seems he’s still limping…and may remain on the sideline. As such he might not be a strong play -monitor his progress up to game time.
S.Slaton – beat writers report he’ll start for the Texans.
M.Smith – cut by the Jets.
L.White/C.Johnson – it’s an official RBBC, a 50/50 or 60/40 split, this from the HC.
M.Austin – the Cowboys will without this speedster for about a month. Watch how he is doing going into the bye (10).
A.Arrington – was put on IR after a strong showing in camp. See you next year.
D.Avery – sprained his knee, watch to see if another occurs, this is his second one.
D.Bennett – could miss week 1 and open a door for one of the rookies.
B.Edwards – is ready to go in week 1, as long as he stays away from D.Stallworth.
Y.Figurs – suffered a concussion so monitor this guy if you have the Bal D/ST as he is dangerous on returns.
J.Gaffney – The clear and unchallenged #3 in NE. Extrapolate his production from the last half or so of last season. Not a bad #4/5.
DJ.Hackett – a boom/bust player; great potential but owns a time-share in the trainers room.
S.Hurd – suffered a high ankle sprain, further depleting what is becoming an injury riddled Wr corps. He’ll be out 2-4 weeks.
D.Jackson – the Eagles held him out of the final pre-season game. Impact rookie!
D.Jackson – impressed enough in TB that he’ll handle both punt and return duties.
J.Jones – his sprained knee cracks the door open for R.Martin and J.Nelson.
M.Kelly – could be headed to the PUP or IR with swelling in his knee.
Marcus Monk – picked up by the Giants. Remember this for next when when the draft hype begins again.
J.Morgan – fighting for playing time behind Bruce, B.Johnson, A.Battle, J.Hill, jes’ sayin’.
B.Obomanu – suffered a broken clavicle and is on IR.
J.Porter – unless he practices Tues it’s unlikely he’ll play in week 1. Shocker
He is the Jags #1WR but keep an eye on his hamstring…those injuries linger.
C.Roby – has a roster spot due to his return skills, he should be available in leagues that reward return yards. Monitor.
J.Simpson – the #3 WR for the Bengals, until Henry returns in week 5.
S.Steptoe – Syndric is water bug quick and could be the #3WR for the Browns as well as taking J.Cribbs spot on returns.
R.Williams – the titans may have done this WR a favor by waiving him.
J.Carlson – will be starting for Seattle, stretching the field, providing a red zone target while learning to block.
M.Gaines – a TE for those who are not Lions fans…signed as a FA due to concerns about D.Campbell’s two seasons of elbow problems. Now that you know who he is…he’ll start the season opener after Campbell pulled a hamstring. Gaines is an excellent blocker, bump K.Smith up slightly.
J.King – yea he’ll start but the Panther TE catching passes is more likely to be D.Rosario, who will not be in there to block
Z.Miller – the QB already relies on Millers hands on 3rd downs and in the red zone.
T.Scheffler – continues to work as the #2 TE. He is the #2 option in the pass game though and is still a top 15 TE.
J.Saturday – (MCL), out 6 weeks, the OL for the Colts gets downgraded. Rookie C’s Steve Justice or Jamey Richard may replace him.
S.Neal – PUP. NE’s OL takes another hit and is beginning to look ugly, the kind of ugly that get’s your QB beaten up each game, or worse.
J.Peters – seems the Bills are moving on without their LT.
M.Crosby – there will be a – yet to be determined – new long snapper in GB. Chemistry takes time.
M.Gramatica – won the placekicker position for the NO high scoring offense.
A.Brooks – Signed by SF to back up P.Willis. He could play any of the four LB positions.
K.Bullock – a bit banged up but expect him to be ready in week 1, looking to extend his string of six 100 tackle seasons.
J.Dizon – has a long way to go before challenging MLB P.Lenon.
L.Foote – his knee injury might open the door for L.Timmons to take over.
V.Gholston – has been a big disappointment in training camp. Drop him in seasonal IDP leagues if you got him for depth.
Shawn Merriman – expect him to have surgery. He won’t risk his career. bump Shaun Phillips down as he’ll now be targeted by offensive blocking schemes.
Marques Harris/ Carlos Polk/Jyles Tucker – SD hopes one of these guys steps into the breach. I’d bet on Jyles and his new contract.
Nate Webster – who may be replaced on passing downs, has beaten out Niko Koutouvides.
M.Kiwanuka – back at DE, moves D.Clark to WLB. (check updated depth charts) IF YOUR LEAGUE STILL LISTS HIM AS A LB DROP IMMEDIATELY!
D.Harvey – finally signed, he’ll be good – next year.
D.Howard - his production led to the team cutting J.McDougle (signed by NYG). could be a bye week replacement if you are looking for an edge pass rusher.
A.Talib – just about sown up the nickel CB spot…a playmaker who’ll get a lot of work as TB uses a nickle package almost half the time.
J.Bullocks ~ with the release of L.Schulters, Bullocks appears close to being healed. Keep an eye on this DB who should be available on the waiver wire. People were very high on his early last year.
B.Carr – at some point this CB will start for the Chiefs. At 6′ 207 he’ll provide tackles in a cover 2.
J. David ~ the Saints like this DB’s potential but he could be cut, he was a big money free agent acquisition. Keep an eye out for Usama Young. He’ll be targeted by OC’s and could surprise.
L.Landry ~ missed the entire pre-season with a hamstring injury, there are healthier alternatives for your starting line-up.
D.Lowery ~ keep an eye on this guy for waiver wire consideration, coaches like hi approach on and off the field.
E.Reed – (shoulder) may not play in week 1. The Bal D takes a hit if this is the case.
A.Rouse – no he wont start. The GB coaches favor Nick Collins but put him on your IDP radar…6′4″ safeties who are playmakers and can blitz eventually find their way on the field.
49ers – are hesitant to disrupt the chemistry of the OL with 4th yr G T.Wragge on the right side. D.Baas, the incumbent, has been moved to LG after recovering from an injury. Wragge is better able to pull and make blocks at the second level.
Bears – the D line was gashed by cutbacks in seven of the final nine possessions of pre-season…the first team D. To add a grain of salt to this, the Bears D led the league last year in three and outs (30%).
Broncos – are going into game 1 with only four WR’s on their roster.
Browns – keep an eye on RG Rex Hadnot. If he is (A.)starting due to injury or coaches decision and (B.)they are facing an aggressive D, bump the passing game down as he struggles mightily against the rush.
Cards – Starting C Al Johnson and his backup Lyle Sendlein have knee problems. Johson had a 2nd surgery in late July. Centers make the blocking calls on the line of scrimmage…which means Pat Ross has the final preseason game to hone his skills and not get his QB hammered.
Jets – sleeper alert. Monitor this D/ST. Now that Mangini has the players he wants for his system they’ll be more aggressive and could begin to emerge before their bye week.
Panthers – how bad is the WR situation? they brought in 5th yr WR Samie Parker whose played for KC the last three years. I expect the veteran leadership to approach management requesting that Steve Smith’s suspension to be lifted. Don’t be shocked to see Ken Lucas among that group.
Ravens – the offensive line was together for the first time during pre-season, actually, since the third day of two a day’s (ok, a long time).
Plethora of info!
Holy crap, Tav! You are a freak! Great info, Tav!
He is a beast.
