I’m not giving up on Derek Anderson yet, and hopefully the Browns coaching staff won’t either (after this week). Anderson has really been dealt an few unlucky hands so far this season, with nasty winds in Week 2 and a Baltimore match-up in Week 3… If Anderson can make it through this Ravens match-up, that Browns passing attack should be back on track against Cincy in Week 4. So it’s probably clear by now which QB I’d take in Week 3 if in this situation… I start J.T. O’Sullivan. I like this guy a lot, but I like his Week 3 match-up even better. The Lions defense is insanely bad, both against the run and the pass. Michael Turner ripped that unit up for 220 rushing yards and two scores in Week 1… and in Week 2, Aaron Rodgers destroyed that Lions secondary throwing for 328 yards and 3TDs. O’Sullivan should have well over 250 yards passing on Sunday with at least a couple scores. Frank Gore should also be in for a HUGE outing. |

I can’t go J.T. O’Sullivan over Derek Anderson. I worry about this Ravens match-up, but one has to think that Anderson is still the safer option. I could be wrong, and I know Smitty is really high on O’Sullivan, but I just don’t feel it quite yet with the 49er. Somehow I see Anderson still getting roughly 200 yards passing and I’m going to hope for 2TD passes, as I think the Browns will be down and gunning late in the game. |

Larry Johnson is one of the most talked about players right now on our FFX Forums. He was a top 12-15 overall pick back in August, yet he is averaging just 2.8 yards per carry and has just 96 rushing yards through the first two games of the season. Things could get better for L.J. owners… the Chiefs next three rushing match-ups are solid ones. First up is the Falcons (20th), next up the Broncos (21st), and then come the Panthers (19th). I have my concerns about L.J. turning it around, I won’t lie, but as I said in our Week 3 Fantasy Football Stock Market article, fantasy owners are almost forced to wait this one out… you just won’t get enough for Johnson if you shopped him. I know we said this last week, but if Johnson is going to turn it around, it will be this week against the Falcons. |

Matt Forte is starting to look like a very good flex-option this year, but I still have faith in Larry Johnson. His schedule gets a lot better starting this week. He may not get 2TDs a game like in years prior, but he still has the upside for big games. L.J. should have 90 yards or so on the ground in Week 3 and he should get a score. Forte might get similar rushing numbers, but I don’t see him finding the end zone. Start Johnson. |

This may seem like a strange Start/Bench question, but it’s an important one to breakdown. LaDainian Tomlinson started last week, but he didn’t finish. He even returned to the game to only leave yet again. What do fantasy owners do? Well, for starters there is no safe answer at this point. You have to stay on top of our Fantasy Football Breaking News and monitor Tomlinson’s progress this week. If he is set to start, like we expect, you have to roll with Tomlinson. Coach Norv Turner said earlier this week that Tomlinson’s toe isn’t getting any worse, but that doesn’t mean all that much when Tomlinson can’t finish games on the banged up wheel! For now, though, keep L.T. in your line-up. Unless the Chargers rule him out of Week 3, or unless the team publicly acknowledges that the stud will get less work on Sunday than most expect, prepare to start Tomlinson. The Jets currently rank sixth in the league against the run through the first two games of the season, but that San Diego offensive line should be able to get the team’s starter 100 yards and a score on the ground. Prepare to start Tomlinson, but again stay all over our Fantasy Football Breaking News throughout the week. |

This will probably be a tough call all the way up to kickoff. LaDainian Tomlinson will play, you can almost bet on that, but for how long? Darren Sproles will probably still get a lot of carries even if LT suits up, but it’s almost impossible to bench Tomlinson unless he is officially ruled out. Start Tomlinson unless he suffers a setback, because he is slotted to go in Week 3. |

I’m going to roll with the numbers on this one. Both receiver face off against each other in this contest, Santonio Holmes facing the Eagles’ 22nd ranked passing defense, and DeSean Jackson facing the Steelers’ 9th ranked defense. Even though they rank 9th in the league against air attacks, I think that the Steelers pass D is better than that and they will prove it in Week 3. Holmes should be in for a big score and get back to leading the league in yards per catch. Jackson won’t find the end zone in this game and probably won’t get over the 70-yard mark. That makes Holmes the easy call in my book, but I do like Jackson a lot this year. |

Both WRs are playing great, so this is a tough one. I have to go with Santonio Holmes. I like PIT a lot this season, even with Ben Roethlisberger banged up. Donovan McNabb could have a rough game against the Steelers defense this week, so I say go with the guy on the team that might score more points. Holmes could grab a score and well over 80 yards in Week 3. |

The 2008 fantasy football season isn’t going as planned for many fantasy owners. Players like Isaac Bruce are outperforming studs like Braylon Edwards, Chad Ocho and T.J. Houshmandzadeh. In fact, Carson Palmer and that entire Bengals passing attack have been total busts thus far in the first two weeks of the 2008 regular season. And to make matters worse, the Bengals face a tough Giants defense in Week 3. This fantasy season is so off the course of normal, two rookie receivers are in the top 10 at their position, something no one predicted.
Some things will stay the same, like DeSean Jackson and Eddie Royal being productive, but other things will get back to normal, like Willis McGahee running strong, Joseph Addai finding the end zone twice… even Palmer will rebound - Eventually.
As I said above, monitor LaDainian Tomlinson’s toe throughout the week, and get Darren Sproles ready if need be. We expect L.T. to go at this point, but anything can happen.
Jamal Lewis should struggle in Week 3 against the Ravens, as will Kellen Winslow. I badly want to support the Browns this week, a team I see rebounding offensively after this weekend, but it’s just a lot to ask against that Ravens D.
As I just said above, Addai should be back to playing ultra-productive and it should start this week. The Colts are playing at home against a beat up Jags team… once Peyton Manning and crew get off to a solid lead, fantasy owners should see a whole lot of Addai. Expect big numbers in Week 3! I just want to add that I still have a good feeling about Maurice Jones-Drew this week (as well as looking forward). The "Human Bowling Ball" is so explosive, he can play like a top 10RB at any point. Keep that in mind if he can be had cheap!
Julius Jones is a solid start again this week against the Rams. Start him, but then trade him! We’re not sold on him for the entire season, but his value should be at its highest after this week’s game.
Ahmad Bradshaw should NOT be available in any leagues. Same goes for Pierre Thomas. If you need a one week fill-in, consider grabbing and starting Michael Pittman. He is Shanny’s goal line back and you never know what kind of role the team could spoon feed him in the coming weeks. It’s just like Shanny to take a guy like Pittman and make him into his feature back. Be warned!
And our super-sleeper grab of the week is… Packers RB Kregg Lumpkin. Lumpkin could end up grabbing that Packers RB2 role before long. He is an explosive runner and isn’t on very many radars at all. If you own Ryan Grant, you better grab him now. With Grant’s injury problems as of late, you never know what can happen when a young back takes over the starting gig and produces (like last year with Ryan Grant). Packers coach Mike McCarthy said that the rookie "absolutely" earned more touches moving forward given his Week 2 performance. He is worth considering!
