Who Do I Start & Who Do I Sit?

Lee Evans (vs. SD) or Bernard Berrian (vs. CHI)?

Believe it or not, the Chargers are second to last against the pass this season. This means that Lee Evans is a fantastic start this week and could be in for at least 80-90 yards receiving and probably a score. Bernard Berrian is a tempting option this week, as he faces his old team that ranks 27th against the pass, but Evans has much more upside in my opinion. Even if Trent Edwards can’t go this week, and it looks like he can as of now, Losman-to-Evans will do just fine. Start Evans.

I go with Lee Evans. The Chargers actually don’t have a very good passing defense this year and I don’t trust that Vikings passing attack. I think the Vikes will run a lot in Week 7 and Bernard Berrian will get little love through the air. Start Evans and you may get 70+ and a score.

Matt Forte (vs. MIN) or Michael Pittman (@NE)?

The Vikings are 4th against the run, surrendering just 73.7 yards per game, but they have given up 6 scores so far this season. Michael Pittman faces the league’s 21st ranked rushing defense in Week 7. That New England unit gives up 119.4 rushing yards per game. I see Pittman having a huge game this week, rushing for 100 yards and at least one score. As we have said for weeks now, Pittman/Ryan Torain could be a very sneaky RB2 looking forward.

Normally I say start your studs, and Matt Forte is playing like a stud, but I start Michael Pittman here. He looks really good, he is getting all the carries in DEN right now and his match-up is gold. Pittman should crack 100 yards and punch one in.

Jamal Lewis (vs. WAS) or Steve Slaton (vs. DET)??

Jamal Lewis has a tough match-up against the Redskins in Week 7. Washington is 6th against the run and has given up just three rushing touchdowns on the season. Not only am I not a fan of Lewis this week, I suggest that Lewis owners shop the running back now while his value is high, as he just ran for 88 yards and a score in Week 6 against the Giants. Could Lewis prove me wrong and continue to play well? Sure, anything is possible, but I just don’t see it. Back to this week and this question… It’s pretty obvious that Steve Slaton is my pick out of these two. Slaton faces the league’s second worst rushing defense in Week 7 — The Lions give up 171 yards per game and have given up seven rushing scores so far this season. Start Slaton and look for roughly 100 yards and a touch.

The Redskins could get out to an early lead. If this happens, Jamal Lewis won’t be running much in the second half. Like Washington, the Texans will probably take the lead early, as the Lions will be awful this week, and this is good news for Slaton owners. Start Slaton and you may get 90-100 and a score.

Chad Ocho Cinco (vs. PIT) or Calvin Johnson (vs. HOU)?

1) The Bengals have looked absolutely awful so far this year. 2) Cincy doesn’t have Carson Palmer this week. 3) The Bengals face the league’s third-best passing defense in the Steelers. All that said, Calvin Johnson just: 1) Lost Roy Williams to the Cowboys, so he will see tougher coverages. 2) Calvin just lost Jon Kitna for the season. 3) Calvin now has Dan Orlovsky or Drew Stanton tossing him the football. On top of all that, the Lions still face a decent Houston Texans passing defense (16th). Call me crazy for still having faith, but I’m starting Ocho Cinco if in this situation. Even with Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing him the rock, I see Chad having around 80-90 and a touch this week. Calvin owners could be in for some serious inconsistency in the coming weeks.

Not sure what is going to happen in Detroit this week. No QB and no Roy Williams could spell DISASTER. Cross your fingers and start Chad Ocho Cinco. Neither receiver is a great option, but I trust Ryan Fitzpatrick more than I trust that Lions offense now. Both could get around 50 yards. Because Chad could grab a lucky score, I would start Chad.

Santonio Holmes (@CIN) or Marvin Harrison (@GB)?

The Bengals are surprisingly 4th against the pass, but the Packers are also very solid against the pass, as they rank 7th in the NFL in the defensive category. I start Santonio Holmes, though. Braylon Edwards and Holmes have been my two biggest "Go Trade For Them" wide receivers as of late… Well, Edwards is back on top… next up, Santonio Holmes! Roughly 90 yards and at least one score sounds about right in Week 7. I expect Big Ben to have a huge outing in this one.

Both have tough match-ups, but Santonio Holmes is the big-play receiver. Start the player that could get you that 60-yard bomb at any moment. Marvin Harrison will fall back down to earth in Week 7. Holmes could get fantasy owners 80+ and a score in Week 7.
