Week 11 – On The Rise & On The Decline

Below are the Players On The Rise & On The Decline entering Week 11. This is our Fantasy Football Stock Market in many ways and we hope that this feature helps you get a pulse on some of the more talked about fantasy players at this point in the 2008 fantasy football season.

Maurice Jones-Drew | RB JAC

Maurice Jones-Drew had a monster fantasy outing on Sunday, rushing for 70 yards and 3TDs. The concerning part is that MJD only received 11 carries. I have no idea why that Jaguars coaching staff won’t give their stud 18-20 carries per game, but they refuse to make the leap… It’s too bad, because MJD could be a top 5-10RB if he saw that kind of workload. Because MJD’s carries are not guaranteed, he remains a bit risky looking forward, but honestly, I believe that he is worth the risk.

Joseph Addai | RB IND

If there was ever a time to buy-low on Joseph Addai, now would be that time. Addai carried the football just 12 times for 34 yards on Sunday against the Steelers, and last week the stud had just 32 rushing yards against the Patriots. Addai has been battling a hamstring injury as of late, but I don’t think that his hamstring is the reason he did almost nothing on Sunday… that top 5 Steelers rushing defense can shut down just about any runner. Use Addai’s Week 10 performance to your advantage and trade into a top 5-8RB while you still can. I had one Fantasy Football Xtreme user ask me today if he should trade Tim Hightower for Joseph Addai. I told him absolutely. Disagree? Battle it out on our FFX Forums!

Thomas Jones | RB NYJ

Thomas Jones was a beast on Sunday, rushing the football 26 times for 149 yards and 3TDs. This performance came out of nowhere, but Jones proved that he is still the team’s feature back and that was something Jones owners needed to see. Can fantasy owners count on Jones being a solid RB2 down the stretch? Well, if you can sell extremely high, I say go for it… but the Jets only face one top 10 rushing defense (Titans) down the stretch, which is great news for T. Jones.

More Players On The Rise:
  • DeAngelo Williams – Williams exploded in Week 10, rushing the football 19 times for 140 yards and 1TD. Jonathan Stewart could surely cut into Williams’ carries looking forward, so selling high isn’t a bad idea, but don’t sell Williams too cheap! He has some solid value right now.
  • Willis McGahee – Just when Ray Rice was thought to be the clear starter, McGahee jumps back into the picture and carries the ball 25 times for 112 yards and two scores. Sell-high if you can, it’s tough to trust McGahee from week to week and his knee problems might once again emerge.

More Players On The Decline:
  • Ray Rice – Don’t attack Rice using solid line-up contributors, but if you can steal him away for cheap, you will have a nice secret weapon stashed on your bench entering your fantasy playoffs.
  • Steven Slaton – Fantasy owners will be a bit concerned with Slaton’s Week 10 outing (4 carries for 7 yards) – Try to acquire Slaton before he faces off against the Colts next week. His next game after that? The Browns!
  • Larry Johnson – See how cheap L.J. is right now in your league – He could get his job back and is worth the risk if you can acquire him at a discount.
  • Terrell Owens – Romo could be back this week – Get Owens before he reminds everyone that he is a top 3WR.
  • Brian Westbrook – Westy disappointed in Week 10, rushing just 13 times for 26 yards. He left Sunday’s game for a bit but did return. No one is going to sell this guy too low, but test the trade waters for sure.
