Larry Johnson has the better match-up, but that doesn’t mean it’s a good match-up. The Chiefs face the Dolphins in Week 16, a defense that ranks 11th against the run and surrenders just 97.1 rushing yards and .57 TDs per game… Chris Johnson faces the Steelers this week, a defense that ranks 2nd in the league against the run and surrenders just 75.8 rushing yards and .35 TDs per game. I’m sorry, but I just can’t put Chris Johnson on the bench unless the alternative is a top 12RB going against a horrible rushing defense. Expect Chris Johnson to have at least 100 total yards and a great shot at a score during any given week, regardless of the match-up! LJ is a decent flex, but that’s it. |

Larry Johnson has been a huge disappointment this season, and even recently when I thought he’d get back on track against some weaker run defenses, he did very little. Personally, I think the guy is just slowing down and I don’t know that I can trust him to carry the rock for me in a week 16 game – that’s not even counting the fact that Miami is a good run-stopping defense. No, I think I’ll roll with the boy wonder, Chris Johnson, and count on him having an OK game against Pittsburgh on the ground and adding some additional yards through the air. Not saying I expect it, but he’s the kind of player who can break one of against anyone. I’ll go 80 total yards and (maybe) a score for Chris Johnson and leave Larry on the bench. |

I just above that it would take a top 12RB talent and a good match-up in order for me to put Chris Johnson on the bench.. well, here we go! Ronnie Brown has been very disappointing as of late, but he is in fact a top 12RB and he faces the 30th ranked rushing defense in Week 16. That KC defense gives up 155.1 rushing yards per game. They also give up 1.57 TDs per contest. Brown is a fantastic start in Week 16 and he could have well over 125 rushing yards and 1-2TDs. As I said above, Chris Johnson could have 100 total yards and a score on any given Sunday, but the match-up screams Brown! Not to add confusion to the situation, but I’d find a way to start both! |

Outside of his 101 yard performance in week 11 against Oakland, Ronnie Brown has been rather pedestrian the second half of the season. Most games he sees right around 50-70 total yards and scores have been rare – only 3 in the last 8 weeks. Those games included the like of Seattle, Denver and St. Louis – so I’m not swayed by the prospect of the matchup with KC. Chris Johnson has much more upside and has the speed to beat any defense – even one as stout as Pittsburgh. I’m not against sitting Johnson this week, I just don’t think Ronnie Brown is a good enough prospect to get me to do that. |
Question: Who can I possibly start vs. this MONSTER?I’m in a big $ league Super Bowl against this MONSTER of a team, how can I compete? PPR league, no return yds, 1 QB/RB/WR/TE/DEF/K must starts and two flex RB/WR positions. Low scoring DEF league settings. Check out this dude’s team and then see mine below, who can I possibly start vs. this MONSTER? His Team: Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall, Calvin Johnson, Eddie Royal, Davone Bess, Dwayne Bowe, Bernard Berrian, Matt Forte, Frank Gore, Pierre Thomas, Jason Witten, Dustin Keller, Aaron Rodgers, Tyler Thigpen, Ryan Longwell, Green Bay My Team: Roddy White, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Antonio Bryant, Maurice Jones-Drew, Joseph Addai, Dominic Rhodes, Leon Washington, Mewelde Moore, Peyton Hillis – IR, Owen Daniels, Tony Romo, Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub, Stephen Gostkowski, Pittsburgh, Tamp Bay …you know your NFL, you know which team is playing who next week AND where AND what’s at stake. Thanks for your help, FF Xtreme! |

Answer: By XFirst and foremost, the one thing I have learned playing this game for as long as I have is this: there is no team that cannot be beat in any given week. That’s a fact, and in your case, I’m not so sure he’s not thinking the same thing. I think the easiest thing to do here is break this down by position to give you the best possible point output. QB – I think I eliminate Tony Romo right off the top – I think he has the least chance to be the high scorer of these three. Between Matt Ryan and Matt Schaub, I like both to have good games but I would lean toward Schaub at this point- he has played very well lately and has a lot of weapons at his disposal, and I expect Houston to do what NE and San Diego did the last few weeks – torch the Raiders. RB – Maurice Jones-Drew is easily your best start at RB this week. He’s got the gig full time now, has a great matchup against Indy at home and is virtually guaranteed to score a TD in any given week. I think he could have his best game of the season this week. WR – Again, no doubt here as Antonio Bryant is your best choice at WR this week. He has been on fire the last few weeks and it’s obvious the pass offense goes through him right now – and you couldn’t ask for a better matchup vs. the Chargers 31st ranked pass defense. FLEX – You have two more guys to play at flex, and I think one has to be Roddy White. He has had a great season, but the matchup @MIN scares me a little after seeing what that defense did in shutting down both Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald last week. Still, White is a great start in any given week and with your remaining choices he is a must play. At the other spot I think it comes down to playing one of those Colts running backs, or just bypassing that whole situation and playing TJ Housmandzadeh. Personally, if you are looking to go for broke and know you need the most points possible, you play Joseph Addai if he is expected to start, or Dominic Rhodes if he’s not. My guess is that Addai will sit out again and that will leave the bulk of the work to Rhodes (stay on our news) – being PPR he should be a good start and better than Housh. It’s tricky though because if it looks like Addai will try to make it a go you might be stuck with a committee for this game. Post a follow-up on the forums as the game approaches to get more feedback on this one. TE/K: At kicker, you have only one choice. At Defense I would play Pittsburgh based on your league settings – I think that game will be low scoring as both are ball control offenses.
