Fantasy: [3/24/09] This kid is a tremendous talent and has top 5-10 running back upside from a fantasy perspective — He weighed 207 pounds in college and that was our only concern about Moreno heading into early 2009. “Was” being the keyword, as Moreno already gained about seven quality pounds (weighing in at 217 at the Combine). He clearly hit the weights! The downside? He just ran a 4.63 forty at the Combine and a 4.6 at his Pro Day. The added weight may have slowed him down a touch, but he is plenty fast and the added weight will help him more than hurt him. Terrell Davis ran a forty in the 4.7s and Frank Gore ran a 4.60… so when an elite talent like this comes along, 4.60 will suffice. Plus, with Moreno’s work ethic, he can get faster in that new skin of his. With the added pounds, Moreno is at the size of a DeAngelo Williams, which is perfect for a full-time rusher at the next level. In 2008, the Georgia running back produced three 3TD-performances, rushed for over 100 yards seven times and scored in every single regular season game but two. Moreno really could be the next big thing at the running back position Chris Wells and Moreno could both be top 5-10 fantasy backs of the future.

Fantasy: [3/24/09] Chris Wells loves inviting contact and he is extremely skilled between-the-tackles. Despite being a downhill-type of runner, he has great side-to-side ability when approaching oncoming traffic. Wells only ran a 4.59 at the Combine, but he reportedly clocked between 4.34 and 4.46 at his Pro Day… at his size, even 4.46 is plenty fast! If Wells lands in the right situation, a place where he can soon get 20+ touches per game, he should have no problem being a top 5-10 fantasy running back of the future. Some say that injuries are a concern, but he only missed three games in 2008. Wells will be a force in the NFL!

Fantasy: [3/7/09] Donald Brown is a good running back and he really impressed us during his Combine workout. Really impressed us! Many analysts are high on this kid — NFL coaches are high on him as well, so watch out for Brown if he is drafted into the right situation. His impressive performance at the 2009 NFL Combine and may have made a case to be a first-round pick this year.

Fantasy: [3/24/09] Shonn Greene is quickly becoming everyone’s favorite 2009 dark horse fantasy running back prospect. If you’re wondering where his 2007 stats are up above, Greene missed the entire 2007 season while he worked at a furniture store in order to pay for school tuition at Kirkwood Community College. After raising his GPA, the running back transferred to Iowa and became a star. Many are claming that this rusher is "their" sleeper, but we hate to break it to those of you claiming this… you can’t be a sleeper when you score 20 touchdowns, rush for over 1,800 yards and hit the 100-yard mark in every single 2008 game you play. That’s right, Greene rushed for over 100 yards in all 13 games, which includes his Outback Bowl performance. Oh, did we mention that Greene scored in every single game but one? He also scored 14 touchdowns in his final six outings. Those are insane numbers! Keep an eye on Greene as we head toward April – He just ran a 4.50 at his Pro Day, so he could end up being the third or fourth running back taken in April’s 2009 NFL Draft… He is that good. He plays A LOT like a healthy Ronnie Brown.

Fantasy: [3/3/09] LeSean McCoy has decided not to return to Pittsburgh in 2009 – McCoy will enter the 2009 NFL Draft. He is a good runner and some have even compared him to the former PIT great Tony Dorsett. He could be the second runner taken on draft day, or he could be the fourth or fifth. Where McCoy lands, and if teams view him as an every-down back, will determine everything. One concern we have is size. He was listed at 210 in college, but he just weighed in at 197 at the combine — Not good. But, there are reports out there suggesting that McCoy was battling the flu during his weigh in. Hopefully this is the case and McCoy does weigh at least 210 when healthy. Even then, we’d like to see him get to a playing weight right around 215 — He needs to be right around 215 to be an every-down back at that next level. McCoy decided not to run the forty at the combine due to the flu.

Fantasy: [2/23/09] Rashad Jennings is a big boy. He isn’t Brandon Jacobs big, but may like to compare the two. Jennings is faster than one might think and he proved that running a 4.64 forty at the 2009 NFL Combine. That’s not a fantastic time, but for a guy his size, it’s extremely impressive. He doesn’t dance around much, but the Liberty runner is a good downhill runner and in the right situation he could shine. Will his upright running style with the big frame hold up at the NFL level?
