Good choice. Breaston is a good WR. If Boldin stays, which I think will be the case, Breaston is still a decent WR3 in fantasy leagues. If Boldin leaves, his value will climb a ton. Good call.

Steve Breaston–put him on there. He did great when filling in for Q down in Arizona last year when he was injured and is coming into his mystical third year in the NFL, which is the much-touted “Breakout Year” for WRs. He should come pretty cheaply in redraft leagues and can be had right now relatively cheaply in dynasty leagues I would imagine. Pick him up and hope for an Anquan Boldin trade before it actually happens; you won’t be sorry.

mdmd1111: Time will tell, but you could be right. The poll on the home page currently has a majority vote going in favor of LT2 having a top 10 season, though. Looks like most expect one more. Anything can happen, though.

AScrimm7: I rank Steven Jackson top 3-5 overall in keeper formats, Chris Johnson 8-12 and Jacobs and Addai both right around 15-20, depending on the scoring format. If PPR, Addai is more like top 15 overall to me in a PPR format, but he is falling much later in fresh dynasty/keeper drafts, which is great news for those starting up new leagues this upcoming season. If forced to pick 3 of the four runners you listed, clearly Jackson and CJ2 are locks, with Addai as my third regardless of PPR or non-PPR. It’s close in non-PPR, as I just said, but I just think Addai isn’t going to fade away. I could be wrong, and I can’t predict what the Colts will do come the NFL Draft, but I just like Addai moving forward given the cost. I’d trade Jacobs if I were you.

Smitty, great calls. You’re obviously high on Addai at this point. Is he keeper material? Let’s say the other options are Chris Johnson, Steven Jackson, and Brandon Jacobs.

Also what, if any, effect does TO’s departure have on Marion Barber’s value?

Smitty, I love the site and your lists are the best. However, I’ll bet my life savings that LT doesn’t have another top ten year left in the tank. He’s been a force for years yet I’m not buying that he was hurt all last year. He just can’t make people miss like he used to and his age has caught up with him. Honestly, he just looked slow on the field this year.

I agree with most except for Slaton. Many of the players you list Portis, Addai both at least equal injury concerns as Slaton IMO. Lynch is getting suspended for most likely 2 games at least, and M. Barber is losing value with the announcement of the 3 headed backfield in Dallas.

Besides Slaton is playing in a great offensive situation right now, his only drawback is if Houston drafts someone to steal carries away?

The only players on that list I take ahead of Slaton are: Forte top 5 pick, Gore and D. Williams Who may end up being a huge bust himself. J. Stewart is in line for a bigger role in 09. How much will that hurt D. Williams?

I like Charles, but I’m not sold on him as a full-time guy. In PPR leagues, he could be solid, but so much has to happen for Charles to get that shot. LJ first needs to be released or bought out, then KC would have to pass on a top back come April’s 2009 NFL Draft… everything could fall into place for Charles, I’m NOT saying it won’t workout, but he is more of a “if you own him hope for the best” type of guy. If you can invest low, certainly do it, but I’d also advise fantasy owners to sell-high if at all possible.

What do you think about Jamaal Charles in KC,Smitty? Just wanted to know your thought on him and LJ’s future in KC. I took a swing on Charles in the late rounds last year.

great article, couldn’t agree more, Slaton just seems to small to hold up for 16 or more games. I drafted Pierre as my 5th back in dynasty league last year, and traded for Addai and Edwards at the end of last year, go get them on the cheap while you still can. Both still young with huge upside.Keep up the great work !
