Montee Ball (RB)

Montee Ball has the potential to be a featured back in the NFL. His struggles as a senior are the result of a number of factors not of his own making. His production was affected by changes in the coaching staff (offensive line), quarterback and most importantly on the offensive line itself (three starters).

What Ball brings to the table is a consistent, strong overall game. He can run the ball inside or outside, catch the ball out of the backfield (uses his hands) or split out wide and he can get some yards on his own. He has vision, quickness, lateral agility, speed and burst. In true workhorse fashion he gets stronger as the game goes on.

The major concern teams will have is his workload in college. He’s had almost 700 touches his last two seasons and over 900 in his career. That’s a lot of mileage on a running back, no matter how you cut it. He has also had multiple concussions so that will need to be addressed as well. He won’t wow anyone at the combine and while that may drop him into the early third round of the NFL Draft the feeling here is that his all around game will attract some NFL team to grab him later in the second round.

In dynasty leagues he’s worth a first round pick. In redraft leagues I want to see where he goes first.
