Stepfan Taylor has the potential to be a three down back in the NFL. He’s a north-south runner with lateral agility who hits the hole hard and runs through arm tackles. He doesn’t have the speed to run away from defenders in the NFL but he is quick and exhibits good vision. He’s effective receiving the ball, reading defenses and protecting the quarterback and those qualities will help him get on the field more quickly in the NFL.
He appears to get stronger as the game goes on and that was evident in the recently completed Senior Bowl. On the final drive he carried five time for 32 yards, finishing with nine carries for 54 yards. He added eight yards on two receptions.
He looks to be a third round selection in the NFL draft but could sneak into the second round if he can run a decent forty at the combine. He could be a steal in this draft and he could be the type of running back that just moves the chains.
