Landry Jones is another quarterback with starting potential. He has the physical tools to play quarterback, the question is can he develop the mental toughness/skills.
Jones is a pocket passer with a very strong arm; enough mobility to slide/move up in the pocket or pick up a few yards for a first down. While taking most of his snaps from a shotgun he can also move under center and has shown good play action fakes. He has better than average accuracy; can throw accurately on the move and can make some pre-snap reads; but will have to learn to make those reads as he drops back as well.
He is a quiet leader and needs to develop more trust in himself. He’d be best served given some time to learn the subtleties of the quarterback position and work on his mechanics. He also needs to develop more consistency; show poise under pressure and not have his play reflect how the game is going at the time. He’s a year or more removed from starting in the NFL in a best case scenario. Jones could be drafted in the third round or later in the NFL draft but he could also sneak into the second round with a strong combine and Pro Day.
In deep dynasty leagues he looks to be a third round pick up with no redraft value for this year.
