Ryan Tannehill (QB)

Ryan Tannehill started only 19 games in college after moving over from receiver yet he threw for 3294 yards with 12 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions as a rookie. With the addition of Mike Wallace, Tannehill should continue to improve during his sophomore season and potentially take a big step forward!

During his rookie campaign Tannehill improved his throwing motion, footwork, and decision making. All while playing behind a weak offensive line with limited offensive weapons. He displayed leadership and resilience in the face of adversity, intangibles that don’t show up on the stat sheet but make a difference for a team. Tannehill would face pressure, get hit or sacked slightly more than once every five pass attempts, then get up and and go back for more.

Tannehill hit 60% of his passes on short and intermediate passing routes to account for 2179 of his passing yards last season. The Dolphin offense can now take advantage of Tannehill’s accuracy on those routes using Wallace, Brian Hartline, Dustin Keller, Brandon Gibson and whomever else they add during free agency or the draft to become a more diversified, potent offense.

Signing Mike Wallace and Dustin Keller along Brian Hartline’s emergence make Ryan Tannehill someone to monitor going forward. In dynasty leagues he remains a QB2/3 though with more upside than he had. There are likely better options to be had in redraft leagues. If Miami can also address their offensive line Tannehill could be one of the big risers in 2013.
