St Louis

The St Louis Rams made a bold move in the NFL draft trading up to No 8 in order to select playmaker Tavon Austin. Austin immediately steps into the starting lineup and becomes one of, if not the favorite receiver for Sam Bradford. In this offense Tavon Austin could catch 80+ balls this season as Bradford’s go-to guy. Of course the Rams also have to address their offensive line issues but the routes Austin will run won’t be affected by that issue.

There was a lot of pre-draft buzz about teams wanting to draft the talented rookie receiver and the Rams took no chances sending No. 16, No. 46, No. 78, and the No. 222 picks to the Buffalo Buffalo Bills in order to get their man. The Rams did get a third round pick as well, No 71. Do not be surprised if the Rams move their No. 22 pick to recoup some of their draft choices.

It’s obvious the Rams plan to feature Tavon Austin heavily. Look for them to design plays that get him the ball quickly and in space with many of his passes within the first ten yards allowing Austin to use his burst to rack up yards after the catch. Additionally he has the ability to run a full route tree making him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

In dynasty drafts, especially PPR leagues Austin will be among the top three picks and in that scoring system he has WR3 value with WR2 upside as a rookie. In standard scoring dynasty leagues he has WR3 potential. Those same values apply to redraft leagues depending on the scoring system your league uses.
