Stedman Bailey (WR) – Rookie Update

Stedman Bailey was chosen in the third round of the NFL draft by the St Louis Rams where he was reunited with college teammate Tavon Austin. Dynasty owners are going to have to be patient with Bailey. He could absolutely blow up in training camp and win the WR2 position or he may have to wait a year or for an injury to make his mark. Regardless of the situation or his size (5’10 – 195) Bailey is a competitive playmaker with a great work ethic who produces yards after the catch, has good hands, runs good routes and will be one of Sam Bradford’s most trusted receivers by the end of the year if not sooner.

The Rams gave Brian Quick an experiential red shirt year last season and this year he will be expected to step up and produce. Anything less and Stedman Bailey is there waiting for his chance. Fantasy owners drafting Bailey should expect him to emerge in 2014, but that should not dissuade you from drafting a clutch playmaker who could impact like Danny Amendola.

Currently Bailey is being drafted at the end of the 2nd round in rookie only fantasy drafts and in the third round of rookie drafts that include IDP players. This offense is one of the up and coming offenses in the NFL, there is room for Tavon Austin, Jared Cook and Bailey to be fantasy relevant.
