WOW! That didn’t take long! Josh Gordon is one failed drug test away from a year long suspension. It was disconcerting enough that Gordon was suspended for the first two games of the season, but this is a serious blow to his long term value.

Last season Josh Gordon put up 50/805/5 numbers in a conservative West Coast offense. All this after taking 2011 off from football and being taken in the second round of the supplemental draft. He improved throughout the course of the season. This season he remains, despite the two game suspension, a potential breakout wide receiver who has 70/1150/7 or higher potential (WR2 territory). Gordon has shined during OTA’s, where the work he put in on his route running is paying dividends.

Josh Gordon has the potential to be elite, but you have to wonder. For now he is a hold in dynasty leagues, and I’d be willing to trade for him if the price was right, like a 2nd rounder and a player. He joins Justin Blackmon as a young WR who is facing a year long suspension if he fails another drug test. In the event that either did fail another drug test they could apply for reinstatement after one year.

Currently he is being drafted at the 6/7 round turn in redraft leagues. He could fall a bit as this news spreads and offer solid value.
