Hello? Are there still any Matthew Stafford owners out there who have not gotten bumped from their fantasy football playoffs yet? (Cue the sound of crickets) Well if you were able to somehow still win your games and continue on, despite the young quarterback’s horrible two-week performances, you may just be rewarded in the end.

We all remember the Snow-Bowl game in Philly two weeks ago, where LeSean McCoy ran all over Detroit’s defense for over 200 yards. That was also the game where it was darn near impossible for Stafford to get anything going in the passing game. And how could he? He couldn’t even see more than 5-10 yards in front of him! Okay, so he’s got an excuse there for his 10 of 25, 151 yards, and 0 TD day. It’s understandable Matt, don’t worry, we forgave you for that. Then this past Monday night, AT HOME, in the place where all Lions’ players love to play, we got yet another bad outing…18 of 34, 235 yards, 1 TD, and 3 INT’s. Geez man, you’re killing us here! Can we no longer trust the kid?

I’m here to tell you, yes, we still can. Because next up is another home game this weekend against one of the league’s worst–the New York Giants (forget the crickets…cue the sound of swarming bees, a.k.a. Detroit’s defensive line attacking Eli Manning). This game is going to be a blood bath. This is the Giants team that couldn’t muster a single point a week ago…AT HOME vs. Seattle. I don’t care if it’s Seattle you’re playing, it was still AT HOME. To make matters worse for New York, Victor Cruz is being shut down for the season. And again, this game is in Detroit.

Matt Stafford at home is (or was) as good as Matt Ryan at home. It’s like Drew Brees at home. These guys just excel in their domes. Before this past Monday night’s letdown vs. Baltimore, Stafford has killed it at home this year. In standard scoring leagues, he has average over 30 fantasy points per game. He has been just below Peyton Manning and Drew Brees all season long as well. This Sunday, against the New York Giants, we will see the old Matt Stafford once again. The Lions are fighting for a playoff spot, making this game a must win, which is perfect. If you are lucky enough to have made it this far, despite Stafford’s horrible last two weeks, make sure he is in your lineup this week, as he should help you either win your championship game, or send you to your week 17 championship game, where an away game in Minnesota against the Vikings’ 30th rank pass defense will be waiting (cue the sound of salivating hyenas).
