Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |

Santonio Holmes – Holmes is about to breakout – Enjoy the start of the 2009 show in Week 1.

Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Chad Pennington | vs. Falcons | 200 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Ronnie Brown | 122 rush yds, 2 rush TDs, 34 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Ricky Williams | 15 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Ted Ginn | 4 recs, 50 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Greg Camarillo | 3 recs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Davone Bess | 3 recs, 25 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Anthony Fasano | 2 recs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Dolphins Notes:
Ronnie Brown – Ronnie played better than expected last season coming off ACL surgery – Smitty predicts possible top 5-10RB numbers out of Brown this year. Now that is bold!
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Matt Ryan | vs. Dolphins | 275 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Michael Turner | 110 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Jerious Norwood | 25 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Roddy White | 6 recs, 90 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Michael Jenkins | 3 recs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Marty Booker | 3 recs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Tony Gonzalez | 5 recs, 60 rec yds, 1 rec TDs |
Falcons Notes:
Michael Turner – Even with less touches, Turner is going to have another top 5 fantasy RB season. With Gonzo in town, Turner and the Falcons will be in scoring position more often in 2009.
Roddy White – Roddy is money and will continue to be money with Ryan improving with every snap and with Gonzo frustrating defenses.
Tony Gonzalez – Even at 33, Gonzo will not miss a beat in this winning environment.

Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Brodie Croyle | vs. Ravens | 185 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 2 Ints, 5 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Jamaal Charles | 14 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 4 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Dwayne Bowe | 5 recs, 55 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Mark Bradley | 2 recs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Bobby Engram | 0 recs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Brad Cottam | 1 recs, 4 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Chiefs Notes:
Brodie Croyle – Cassel is out.
Dwayne Bowe – Bowe could have a breakout season if he could ever get, and stay, out of the doghouse.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Joe Flacco | vs. Chiefs | 220 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 15 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Ray Rice | 110 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Willis McGahee | 40 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Derrick Mason | 4 recs, 40 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Mark Clayton | 4 recs, 40 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Kelley Washington | 2 recs, 22 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Todd Heap | 2 recs, 14 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Ravens Notes:
Ray Rice – Smitty predicts MONSTER numbers out of this middle-round grab. He has breakout written all over him. He also faces one of the worst rushing defenses in the league in Week 1. He is arguably a strong fantasy RB2 this week and Smitty has him pegged as a surprisingly-solid RB2 all season long.

Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Donovan McNabb | vs. Panthers | 275 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 15 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB LeSean McCoy | 25 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 11 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR DeSean Jackson | 5 recs, 65 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Kevin Curtis | 4 recs, 40 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Jason Avant | 3 recs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Brent Celek | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Eagles Notes:
LeSean McCoy – A must-own for Westy owners, but as long as Westy is healthy, McCoy will just remain one of the most dangerous back-up running backs in fantasy football.
DeSean Jackson – Jackson could have a breakout season 2009.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
RB DeAngelo Williams | vs. Eagles | 110 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 35 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Jonathan Stewart | 40 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Steve Smith | 6 recs, 90 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Muhsin Muhammad | 2 recs, 20 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Dwayne Jarrett | 2 recs, 22 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Gary Barnidge | 1 recs, 10 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Panthers Notes:
DeAngelo Williams – Williams looked insane this off-season. Watch out!
Jonathan Stewart – Stewart is a go and is a fine flex as long as he is healthy.
Steve Smith – Monitor his shoulder injury heading into Week 1.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Kyle Orton | vs. Bengals | 230 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 5 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Knowshon Moreno | 75 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Brandon Marshall | 5 recs, 77 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Eddie Royal | 6 recs, 73 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Brandon Stokley | 1 recs, 9 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Tony Scheffler | 1 recs, 8 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Broncos Notes:
Kyle Orton – Should be good to go – Hopefully he can move the football down the field in his first start.
Knowshon Moreno – Moreno is a top ten future runner now trapped in an offense that could struggle to find ways to deliver the football to one of the best receiving crews in the league. Moreno is still a fine flex and borderline fantasy RB2 based on talent alone. If Orton surprises, the sky is the limit for this runner.
Brandon Marshall – Marshall comes with a bag full of risk in 2009, but he is being tossed around in trade offers as if he is a fantasy WR3. Take advantage and buy-low. Do not buy-high, though, his value is only in that he can be had at fantasy WR3-type talent.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Carson Palmer | vs. Broncos | 275 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 2 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Cedric Benson | 35 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 7 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Bernard Scott | 30 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Chad Ochocinco | 6 recs, 85 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Chris Henry | 4 recs, 60 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | TE Chase Coffman | 2 recs, 10 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Bengals Notes:
Cedric Benson – Benson should kick things off as the starter in Cincy, but he might lose his job by mid-season.
Bernard Scott – We expect big things out of Scott this year, but it could take a couple weeks before he really gets a decent amount of carries.
Chad Ochocinco – If Ochocinco can focus, he might just have a bounce-back season in 2009.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Brett Favre | vs. Browns | 275 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 8 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Adrian Peterson | 100 rush yds, 2 rush TDs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Bernard Berrian | 5 recs, 80 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Percy Harvin | 3 recs, 38 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Sidney Rice | 3 recs, 36 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Visanthe Shiancoe | 3 recs, 40 rec yds, 1 rec TDs |
Vikings Notes:
Brett Favre – Favre is now a Viking. We love Rosenfels still, but all that means is that this team has a solid passer no matter what happens. Great news for Berrian and great news for this Super Bowl contending team.
Adrian Peterson – Peterson could score 20 or so touchdowns in 2009. We see him starting with two in this contest.
Bernard Berrian – Berrian is banged up, so he could sit, but the receiver is set this season with Favre or Rosey throwing him the football in 2009. Monitor his health in this one… he may sit.
Percy Harvin – He will see a lot of targets and some solid Wildcat action – Harvin will have a nice rookie season and he makes this already dangerous team even more dangerous. Harvin will only help AP see less eight-man fronts.
Visanthe Shiancoe – A very underrated TE this season.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
RB Jamal Lewis | vs. Vikings | 40 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 5 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB James Davis | 40 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 4 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Mike Furrey | 3 recs, 25 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Josh Cribbs | 3 recs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Robert Royal | 1 recs, 8 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Browns Notes:
Jamal Lewis – Jamal is 30 and we do not anticipate him having a great season this year.
James Davis – Davis has very nice upside in even redraft leagues.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Mark Sanchez | vs. Texans | 205 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 8 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Leon Washington | 40 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Shonn Greene | 22 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 5 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Jerricho Cotchery | 5 recs, 70 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | TE Dustin Keller | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Jets Notes:
Mark Sanchez – Sanchez is the starter.
Leon Washington – We like the future of Greene, but Washington looks awesome heading into Week 1.
Jerricho Cotchery – Cotchery will have a solid year, but he may not play consistent football from a fantasy perspective until that Jets quarterback battle is over.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Matt Schaub | vs. Jets | 244 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 7 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Steve Slaton | 70 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Chris Brown | 15 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Andre Johnson | 6 recs, 85 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Kevin Walter | 5 recs, 55 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Andre Davis | 2 recs, 20 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Owen Daniels | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Texans Notes:
Matt Schaub – Schaub is a go and a solid start.
Steve Slaton – Slaton should not slow down much from last season, at least out of the gate, but we do have concerns about Slaton being an every-down back in this league. I know many of you do not want to hear this, but smaller backs built like Slaton tend to only last a few seasons in the NFL (if getting starter-type carries). If Slaton has a great Week 1 outing, consider testing the trade waters.
Andre Johnson – Only injury is going to hold back AJ in 2009. He should have a fine game against the Jets.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB David Garrard | vs. Colts | 210 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 20 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Maurice Jones-Drew | 125 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Greg Jones | 20 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Torry Holt | 5 recs, 65 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Troy Williamson | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Mike Thomas | 3 recs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Marcedes Lewis | 1 recs, 5 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Jaguars Notes:
Maurice Jones-Drew – MJD owners could not ask for a better match-up to start off his monster 2009 campaign.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Peyton Manning | vs. Jaguars | 310 pass yds, 3 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 5 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Joseph Addai | 70 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 25 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Donald Brown | 25 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 7 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Reggie Wayne | 6 recs, 96 rec yds, 2 rec TDs | WR Anthony Gonzalez | 5 recs, 80 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Austin Collie | 2 recs, 28 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Dallas Clark | 3 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Colts Notes:
Peyton Manning – Most of us here at FFX believe that Manning is going to have a 35-40TD season in 2009. Even against Jacksonville, Manning will score some serious points.
Joseph Addai – Addai owners cannot be happy with the Jaguars drafting rookie Donald Brown this year, but Addai is still a good running back and could end up being one of the most underrated fantasy RB2s in 2009.
Donald Brown – Brown has a lot to prove still – Do not count Addai out just yet as the long-term starter in Indy.
Reggie Wayne – Considering Wayne could finish as the number one fantasy WR in 2009, he is somewhat undervalued this year. If you want him in your dynasty league, acquire him before he explodes in Week 1.
Austin Collie – Collie is the No. 3 now.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Matthew Stafford | vs. Saints | 210 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Kevin Smith | 60 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 25 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Maurice Morris | 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Calvin Johnson | 6 recs, 90 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Bryant Johnson | 2 recs, 20 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Dennis Northcutt | 1 recs, 11 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Brandon Pettigrew | 1 recs, 7 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Lions Notes:
Matthew Stafford – Stafford is the best QB on this roster. He might not be consistent for some time, though.
Kevin Smith – Smith should have a nice outing in Week 1, but we have our concerns about that Lions attack in 2009. Playing from behind in most games will equal more passing, not rushing.
Calvin Johnson – Again, the Lions will be trying to pass their way back into games, not rush their way back into games.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Drew Brees | vs. Lions | 300 pass yds, 3 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 5 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Mike Bell | 90 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 10 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Reggie Bush | 45 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 50 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Marques Colston | 6 recs, 98 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Lance Moore | 5 recs, 55 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Robert Meachem | 0 recs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Jeremy Shockey | 3 recs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Saints Notes:
Drew Brees – Brees could not have a better match-up for Week 1.
Mike Bell – Thomas is a no go. Bell is a great start against the worst rushing defense in the league!
Reggie Bush – Even with Bell getting the bulk of the carries, Bush will thrive in the passing game. The Lions have a horrible defense. Horrible.
Marques Colston – Colston is absolutely a fantasy WR1 this year. He is a top 5-6WR start in Week 1.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Tony Romo | vs. Buccaneers | 240 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Marion Barber | 80 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Felix Jones | 30 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Roy Williams | 4 recs, 60 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Patrick Crayton | 3 recs, 35 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Sam Hurd | 3 recs, 36 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Jason Witten | 4 recs, 50 rec yds, 1 rec TDs |
Cowboys Notes:
Marion Barber – Barber is a bargain via trade – Consider making a move to acquire him before Week 1. If he does struggle against the Bucs, even more of a reason to go after him heading into Week 2, as he will probably be even cheaper via trade.
Felix Jones – Jones should see more work in 2009, which could prove to be a good thing for Barber owners. Barber will not score double-digit touchdowns if not on the field for 16 games. Barber should play well in Week 1, even against the Bucs.
Jason Witten – Witten is always a top five fantasy TE, no matter the match-up.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Byron Leftwich | vs. Cowboys | 205 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Derrick Ward | 65 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 35 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Cadillac Williams | 55 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Michael Clayton | 2 recs, 14 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Sammie Stroughter | 1 recs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Kellen Winslow | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Buccaneers Notes:
Derrick Ward – The best receiving back on the roster – That will eventually get him starter-type carries. It may not happen right away, but Ward will eventually be the most used rusher in Tampa and he will be a fantastic flex-option in good time.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Shaun Hill | vs. Cardinals | 199 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Frank Gore | 90 rush yds, 2 rush TDs, 40 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Glen Coffee | 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Josh Morgan | 6 recs, 80 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Isaac Bruce | 3 recs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Michael Crabtree | 3 recs, 28 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Vernon Davis | 2 recs, 20 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
49ers Notes:
Frank Gore – The 49ers offense will be built around Gore – Get ready for a big Week 1 and a big 2009.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Kurt Warner | vs. 49ers | 305 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Chris Wells | 65 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 8 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Timothy Hightower | 40 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 7 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Larry Fitzgerald | 6 recs, 90 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Steve Breaston | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Ben Patrick | 0 recs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Cardinals Notes:
Kurt Warner – Warner is a top 5QB start in Week 1 (and most weeks).
Chris Wells – It could take some time before Wells looks like a future top 10 overall fantasy pick, but expect him to get closer to that form by at least mid-season. Wells is a beast-in-the-making.
Timothy Hightower – He is efficient, but he is no Wells. With each week that passes, that AZ coaching staff will give more and more carries to Wells. Hightower is a great handcuff for those who own Wells.
Larry Fitzgerald – Beast.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Jason Campbell | vs. Giants | 170 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 2 Ints, 15 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Clinton Portis | 60 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 25 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Ladell Betts | 30 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Santana Moss | 5 recs, 60 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Malcolm Kelly | 2 recs, 29 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Antwaan Randle El | 1 recs, 15 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Chris Cooley | 5 recs, 48 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Redskins Notes:
Clinton Portis – Portis might start the season out in decent form, but sell-high if you can. Use his early weeks to beef up his trade value. Portis has carried the football over 2,000 times as a pro. His decline is near, and while it could be next year that he declines, we advise that fantasy owners take a proactive approach.
Ladell Betts – Betts might not help fantasy owners while Portis his healthy, but he is a must-own for Portis owners this year.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Eli Manning | vs. Redskins | 245 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Brandon Jacobs | 90 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 5 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Ahmad Bradshaw | 30 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 34 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Domenik Hixon | 5 recs, 65 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Hakeem Nicks | 2 recs, 29 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Steve Smith | 1 recs, 14 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Kevin Boss | 3 recs, 38 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Giants Notes:
Eli Manning – There are too many decent fantasy quarterbacks out there to be starting Eli in Week 1 against the Redskins. In 12-team leagues this season, Eli is at best a fantasy back-up.
Brandon Jacobs – Underrated yet again. Bradshaw is a must-own without question, but Jacobs should score double-digit touchdowns in 2009 (even if he misses 3 or so games).
Ahmad Bradshaw – A great late-round grab for anyone and a must-own for Jacobs owners this season.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Marc Bulger | vs. Seahawks | 245 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Steven Jackson | 110 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 30 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Kenneth Darby | 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Donnie Avery | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Laurent Robinson | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Keenan Burton | 0 recs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Randy McMichael | 1 recs, 8 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Rams Notes:
Marc Bulger – Ready for Week 1.
Steven Jackson – Get ready for a big Week 1 and a big 2009. Jackson is extremely underrated this season and should be going in the top 3-4 in all drafts (redraft and dynasty).
Donnie Avery – Avery is ready for Week 1 and very underrated this year. His stress fracture, which he is fully recovered from, really decreased his value. Take advantage.
Laurent Robinson – If Avery is not ready by Week 1, Robinson could step up.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Matt Hasselbeck | vs. Rams | 235 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 8 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Julius Jones | 45 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 20 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Edgerrin James | 46 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 11 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh | 5 recs, 70 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Deon Butler | 2 recs, 31 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE John Carlson | 4 recs, 60 rec yds, 1 rec TDs |
Seahawks Notes:
T.J. Houshmandzadeh – Housh is a tough player to rank right now. He should be a decent fantasy WR2 and he should have a solid game in Week 1 against the Rams, but we do not see him producing fantasy WR1 numbers this season.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Jay Cutler | vs. Packers | 300 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 8 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Matt Forte | 110 rush yds, 2 rush TDs, 31 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Garrett Wolfe | 20 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Devin Hester | 6 recs, 81 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Earl Bennett | 4 recs, 60 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Rashied Davis | 3 recs, 22 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Greg Olsen | 5 recs, 65 rec yds, 1 rec TDs |
Bears Notes:
Jay Cutler – Cutler might not produce top five fantasy numbers this season, but he has underrated receivers and Olsen is going to turn heads. The Pack will have their hands full on both sides of the ball.
Matt Forte – Forte could not be in a better situation. Cutler is HUGE for the runner and we see no reason why he cannot pick-up right where he left off in 2008. Forte might be the safest running back to own in 2009 after Adrian Peterson.
Earl Bennett – We like Bennett a lot this year, but Hester could be the Eddie Royal in Chicago now that Cutler is under center.
Greg Olsen – Olsen could finish as a top 3-4 fantasy TE this year. He is that good. Expect a big day against the Pack in Week 1.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Aaron Rodgers | vs. Bears | 240 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Ryan Grant | 41 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Brandon Jackson | 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Greg Jennings | 6 recs, 80 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Donald Driver | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Jordy Nelson | 3 recs, 48 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Jermichael Finley | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Packers Notes:
Aaron Rodgers – Rodgers should be a top 4-6 fantasy QB this season, but Week 1 will be rough on the passer.
Ryan Grant – Tough break for Grant owners. Grant should have a a very decent year, but all that might kickoff during Week 2.
Greg Jennings – Jennings will get his just about every single week, no matter the match-up.
Jermichael Finley – This guy could be a monster in this league. If you need a TE, check your league waiver wire right now. Rodgers loves him and they have a tremendous rapport already.

QB Trent Edwards | vs. Patriots | 205 pass yds, 1 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Fred Jackson | 55 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 32 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Terrell Owens | 7 recs, 80 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Lee Evans | 4 recs, 60 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Josh Reed | 2 recs, 14 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Derek Schouman | 1 recs, 6 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Bills Notes:
Trent Edwards – Edwards might struggle at times during Week 1, but playing from behind will allow him to at least feed the rock to Owens.
Fred Jackson – Lynch is suspended for Weeks 1-3.
Terrell Owens – Owens, 35, looks ready for one more big season.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Tom Brady | vs. Bills | 345 pass yds, 3 pass TDs, 0 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Fred Taylor | 70 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 7 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Kevin Faulk | 35 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 35 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Randy Moss | 7 recs, 110 rec yds, 2 rec TDs | WR Wes Welker | 7 recs, 88 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Joey Galloway | 4 recs, 45 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Chris Baker | 3 recs, 25 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Patriots Notes:
Tom Brady – Brady practiced fully FRI – Is anyone honestly not expecting 300+ and 3TDs?
Fred Taylor – Taylor is a tough player to rank heading into 2009. Will he get starter type carries? Time will tell, but for now he is technically the starter.
Randy Moss – Brady is a go, which means Moss could play one half and still get 90 and a touchdown.
Wes Welker – Monitor his health.
Chris Baker – Baker could emerge as a solid TE – Pick the guy up if you are in need at the position.

Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB Philip Rivers | vs. Raiders | 240 pass yds, 2 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 0 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Darren Sproles | 20 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Vincent Jackson | 6 recs, 90 rec yds, 1 rec TDs | WR Malcom Floyd | 1 recs, 11 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Antonio Gates | 4 recs, 64 rec yds, 1 rec TDs |
Chargers Notes:
Vincent Jackson – Jackson could be one of the biggest surprises this season in terms of middle-round receivers. Expect him to shine in Week 1.
Antonio Gates – Gates is very undervalued right now. Take advantage in dynasty formats before he hits the field in that first contest.
Player | Match-Up | Week 1 Projections |
QB JaMarcus Russell | vs. Chargers | 195 pass yds, 0 pass TDs, 1 Ints, 10 rush yds, 0 rush TDs | RB Darren McFadden | 78 rush yds, 1 rush TDs, 21 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | RB Justin Fargas | 25 rush yds, 0 rush TDs, 12 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Chaz Schilens | 0 recs, 0 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Darrius Heyward-Bey | 3 recs, 28 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | WR Louis Murphy | 3 recs, 33 rec yds, 0 rec TDs | TE Zach Miller | 2 recs, 22 rec yds, 0 rec TDs |
Raiders Notes:
JaMarcus Russell – FFX is not high on Russell.
Darren McFadden – McFadden might be the only well-playing Raider in this match-up.
Chaz Schilens – Monitor his health. This guy could emerge in a couple weeks and be a nice dynasty pick-up!
