So, should I take AP or LT?
I didn’t want to land the #1 in this mock to be honest, I wanted to test out a different and more challenging slot, but we did the order at random and this is what I got.
So, who deserves the number one? LT or AP?

Take AP. The Minn passing game should improve a bit and AP should get the ball more.
Tomlinson is best at crying at press conferences now.

You know, it’s funny what you will do when your back is finally against the wall. LT has been my #1 redraft RB all off-season so far, but I think I am leaning toward A.P. when all is said and done. That doesn’t mean L.T. isn’t the CLEAR #2 overall pick, but I think I am leaning toward A.P. at this point.

I guess you can’t go wrong with LT2. But AD’s a monster. And I agree that the Vikes passing game should improve so . . . go Peterson.

8 man fronts are a concern, but it isn’t that simple in the NFL with a mobile QB. Jackson scares me in all the dynasty leagues where I own AD, I won’t lie, but the Vikes are very talented. Imagine if they traded for a Derek Anderson? Why they don’t acknowledge that Jackson isn’t the answer is beyond me. They have what it takes to win now if they commit to making the QB change now!
Again, though, AP will still succeed and you can’t just crowd the box all the time. He will break through, he has proved it. Barry Sanders saw the same thing, but with runners like AD and Sanders, all it takes is a small hole and an eight or nine man front turns into 8-9 defenders in the wrong place at the wrong time and behind the runner with no one to catch him. I see the argument, but it doesn’t alarm me as much as it does most.

This is the best way to use our FFX Mock Draft Simulator … what do you guys think? What strategy looks best through round 3? Going (RB, WR, WR) or (RB, RB, WR)?
Below are the start of both strategies and then the available players looking forward if on the clock again after making that third pick… who likes what better?
– YOUR TEAM — RB/WR/WR

2: Wayne, Reggie (WR)
3: Braylon Edwards (WR)
– YOUR TEAM –
1: Tomlinson, LaDainian (RB)
2: Wayne, Reggie (WR)
3: Maroney, Laurence (RB)
Players Available when on the clock again in the 4th…
# Lee Evans
# DeAngelo Williams
# Edgerrin James
# Drew Brees
# Javon Walker
# Derek Anderson
# Calvin Johnson
# Jason Witten
# Roddy White

i go with…the tomlinson…wayne…edwards…then select brees route…ya …ya…i know youd be short on rbs…but…fantasy football is still simply about points right? your top four would match nearly any other top four….then with your fifth pick look at the….white…henry…duece…whoever starts in cincy….with tomlinson as your #1 your #2 can be very medicore….imo

Really, either strategy can lead to victory, and both seem very close. The #1 spot is a tough one to draft in based on our rankings, but in real life, better RBs might fall to you at the 24 pick if you have it! Keep that in mind, those of you that have that 1 pick in 12 team leagues.
I think landing a couple rookies is a real option for someone that wants to go RB, WR, WR in this situation. Good take.
PS, I don’t trust Maroney and wouldn’t take him with my third pick. No chance. But that’s me.

I did the draft sim and went LT2, Wayne, Edwards, Brees, Witten and now I am looking at taking two out of Norwood, Kevin Jones, T. Henry, McAllister, Watson, Rudi Johnson, and Alexander. This isn’t gtreat, but it might be a way to go.

I have a feeling some better RBs will be available for the 24/25 picks in this draft, but the 1 pick doesn’t feel quite as good as a RB combo like:
Larry Johnson, Willie Parker.. agreed? Again, though, someone could fall.

In this situation, I would defintely feel more comfortable with;
1: Tomlinson, LaDainian (RB) (personally I would take AD)
2: Wayne, Reggie (WR)
3: Braylon Edwards (WR)
than with;
1: Tomlinson, LaDainian (RB)
2: Wayne, Reggie (WR)
3: Maroney, Laurence (RB)
Yes, the Pats used Maroney a lot more towards the end of the season, and yes, he responded well. However, I believe this was Bill’s plan all along. He knew that once the weather grew progressively worse, he would have to change the game plan in order to be successful. Once the 2008 season begins, I see the Pats going back to the air game, with small doses of LoMo and Sammy mixed in to keep the D’s honest.
I agree with you Smit…I wouldn’t trust Maroney early next year either. I’d much rather be racking up the points all season long with Reggie and Edwards.
Just my 2 cents.

Yep, with these specific players left in THIS situation (if the draft goes like this), I’ll be going RB, WR, WR, but my guess is that a RB may fall, or I’d consider Romo if still available (not likely).
Romo
AP
Wayne
would be a nice start..

Where do Brady and Randy deserve to go in this draft and where do you think they will go? Where will these Sites value them if you had to guess now?

Don’t really know as I could predict exactly where these two might go in this particular draft. But from witnessing some of your past drafts, I would be inclined to count on a couple of surprise moves by some of these guys. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see both going in the first round. Extreme moves for extreme owners!

Extensive coverage of the Patriots going on around here. One thing is the Patriot players and coaches are being pretty open about things. The main thing ~
….it was reported tonite that Maroney was held back in the beginning of the year until they were sure he was healthy. Initially it was the shoulder surgery, then a groin injury. A RB coach’s (Ivan Fears) decision…which we all know was supported by the HC. What this does for me is elevate Maroney a bit. I’d go with L.T., Wayne and Edwards but don’t sleep on Maroney, he’ll be more productive next year…if they don’t add an RB in the 1st
