When i hover my cursor over the member's name and double-click, nothing happens. Just wanted to see whether it would bring me to a member's profile page.

You can view profiles by clicking on the “person” icon (next to the “online/offline” indicator) in a member's post. If you click on it once, it will show the profile and allow you to add that person to your “favorites” list for PMs.
