I am interested in participating in a new 16 team dynasty league if there is any interest out there. I was thinking it could be in the mold of the Expert League that Smitty recently made the Turner trade in. I am in only auction dynasty leagues and would like to try one similar to one mentioned. 16 teams just to add even more of an xtreme edge to it.

I am open to whatever just thought I would throw the idea out there.

16 teamer, eh? Nice. I think you will gain more interest as we near the season but I’m sure some Xtremers will jump on this soon enough. Dynasty leagues are the absolute best. There is nothing better than drafting a guy like AP or Bush while so many others doubt them. Then you own them forever. I can’t think of a more fun format. Good luck and jump on this guys!

Hey craphonso, how about fleshing out the idea? IDP/DST? Starting line-up? Roster size? Scoring?

16 teams would make it leaner, meaner and extreme.

I’ve been crazy-busy the last couple of weeks and haven’t even had a chance to check in. Now, I will have a few weeks to sit back and do my own thing. Another league, you say? Woohoo…count me in!

Details?

I could start with a few, but really wanted to get an idea for a league started and let some of us rather than one shape the league. Start date I am open, but sooner the better is my prefered option.

Like I said in the first post I was thinking of shaping it in the vain of the Dirty Dozen Expert Keeper League but tweak it into more of a Dynasty League.

Bear in mind these are not in stone, as I want a lot of imput from others to make this a long term extremers dynasty league.

Lineup: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST……..I am open also open to IDP.
Each team can keep as many players as wanted. Players drafted in rounds #1 - #2 cannot be keeper players.
Players can be kept for 5 years or longer??????? For each player you keep, you must give up a draft pick (2) rounds higher than the player’s draft position the year before.

Roster: 20-25 range? 3-5 Rookie squad (players can be kept forever unless activated to active roster), 1 IR

Scoring:All Positions

4 pts = Passing TDs
6 pts = All other TDs
-1 pts (negative) = Interceptions and Fumbles Lost
2 pts = 2 Point Conversions (pass, run or reception and awarded to each player)
.1 pt = Every 1 yards rushing or receiving
.05 pt = Every 1 yards passing
1 pt. per reception (WR & TE)
1 pt. every 4 receptions (RB & FB)
1 point for every 10 rushing attempts
Kickers

1 pt = PAT
-1 pt (negative) = Missed PAT
3 pts = Field Goal
-1 pt (negative) = Missed FG

Defense / Special Teams

1 point per sack
1 points per fumble recovery
1 point per interception
2 points per safety
5 points per shutout by defense
6 points for TDs (kickoff return, fumble return, interception return, blocks, etc.)

Waivers: I like the blind bidding process personally but again I am open. We could go with a larger that roster and would promote more trades and thus redusing a great need for waivers.

I haven’t done a league like this as mine are Auction Dynasty Leagues primarily and a normal ReDraft League so whoever is interested let’s all help form the league. I’m sure I am also forgeting a few key issues, but these ideas can be the starting point.

Glad there is some interest out there!

Scoring looks good and I’m also good to draft anytime soon in the next 4 weeks or so. After that, I have some drafts for standing leagues I play in. So is this a dynasty league or keeper league? Dynasty assumes no time limits or contraints of any kind on the players you draft. I’d prefer participating in a dynasty league, but only if others are open to it.

So how many do you have so far?

Come on guys, jump on these last spots. If you haven’t done a dynasty league before, there is nothing like it.

you must give up a draft pick (2) rounds higher than the player’s draft position the year before

So a guy drafted in the 3rd round this year would require you give up your 1st round pick next year in order to keep him?

Ok……..I am again open to anything here guys.

We can throw out the keeper rules all together. And just say you draft ‘em you keep them for as long as you want with no penalty and go pure Dynasty. I am totally fine with that.

What do you guys think of roster size? 20-30? We can just dump the seperate rookie squad. (still have a rookie draft after the 1st draft) and go with a cimplete 30 player roster.

It looks like these guys have shown interest at least.

Smitty/Ballgame/others do you guys have any suggestions/tweaks on the rules for making this a great 16 team dynasty league?

I’d prefer this as well.

A separate rookie draft, inverse order of the dispersal draft is a thought. Rookie draft might go 6 rounds with anyone left over eligible for drafting after the rookie draft is closed.

In 20 rounds with 16 teams 320 players will be chosen, just one consideration.

Once it’s decided putting a thread in both the dynasty/redraft forums will attract other crazies like us… :)

It’s settled……..pure Dynasty with no penalties for keeping players.

I like the idea of seperate rookie draft for as many rounds as agreed upon. I like the idea of pushing roster size limits to promote trading and less waiver claims to add depth.

I 100% agree. I love separate rookie drafts, but didnt propose it because I thought I would be alone. Im happy to hear others agree.

Looks like a great league you guys are starting. Pure Dynasty are the best and easiest to run, IMO.

How will you guys decide the draft order each year… by points, record? Have you considered a lottery, where the 6 teams that don’t make the playoffs get a shot at the #1 pick… I recommend ironing that out before you get going. If you covered this, my bad.

Sorry guys. I would love to try a full dynasty to complete my resume this year, but wife is a little miffed I have already joined 3, two of which I am commish. I am auction style keeper, redraft, and semi-dynasty so a full dynasty would complete my interests. I try to work on her as she is an active owner in my auction league. (nice, huh?)

I’m open to the lottery idea, another idea that I’ve used in other leagues is the teams that do not make the playoffs get the draft picks the following year in inverse order according to record/points etc. So the best team the missed the playoffs gets the #1 pick the following year in the rookie draft (which would not be snake style). We could do both, such as lottery for regular draft (snake style) and inverse for rookie. Good idea Smitty never really done the lottery thing.
