Tavaner, I agree that trades during this draft will bog us down and generally don’t occur/aren’t as important in a redraft league. I would seriously consider not allowing them for your own sanity.

Most of us visit the site daily, so it seems to me we should be able to start anytime - great idea to get it rolling over the upcoming holiday weekend. I’d add that I’m on East Coast time and I know some here are West coast, so some allowance should be made for that.

I also agree with you Tavaner.. We should start over the weekend maybe Fri. night with the first 2 rounds and then Saturday 3and 4, Sunday 4 and 5 ,Monday 6 and 7 leaving half the draft done going into Tues. morning….If people want to trade let them talk but no deals till after the draft……

I would also add that we put a 6 hr. limit on each pick which is very reasonable to all owners.

And for the third post in a row. Maybe we could trade draft positioning before we start possibly opening it up now..to trades and closing it before we start the draft….If this is okayI’m interested in moving up or down giving or getting compensated for the move I’ll take a 3rd rd. or give one away.

I say no trades….too much to keep track of and not enough benefit for a re-draft.

I say as long as there is no time limit you start drafting at any time, just don’t freak out if it takes someone 24 hours to make their pick…lol

IF we suddenly decide on a time limit, ie. 6 hours, you have to make sure that is only during waking hours for people on the east coast. Say the clock stops from 10 PM through 8 or 9 AM. Gotta give people a chance to sleep and spend time with families as well as enough time in the morning to get ready and go to work where we can then spend the day working on Fantasy Football stuff…lol

I say you put like a 24 hour clock on people just so there is some hard limit….then we see how it goes, if it starts dragging too much we can reserve the right to reduce the time after each round of selections.

I see your point wasn’t thinking about time for personal things and family….24hrs should be the limit.

Just to add an additional 2 cents to this, I’m not sure I like the idea of a draft clock per se. 24 hours seems reasonable, but this is, after all, only May. Certainly I agree we don’t want this to drag out for 3-4 weeks, but as long as we agree to give it our best effort, no one should be penalized for taking a little longer to draft than someone else. Like I said before, most of us visit this site multiple times per day, but we also all have families and jobs, which are certainly more important. Personally, I will have an easier time getting to the site during the week when I’m working than I will over a weekend when I’m doing family stuff and projects around the house, etc.

All that said, I’m down with whatever is decided, and will abide by whatever rules Tavaner and Brain come up with.

Yeah, I’m cool with whatever is decided.

But I agree with XYZ, that this is only May. We have plenty of time to get this done.

Also, I would prefer no trades during the draft (at least for this year).

You guys like this forum, dedicated to league threads? Great idea Tavaner. Hopefully we can get more leagues in here. What do you guys want me to name this Thread? What is the League name?

You are the first Forum League from FFX, so that might be nice to mix in the name some how. You guys are making history.

I’ll be around for the most part. We may go over to some friends either Sat or Sun evening - don’t know yet but I’ll have some computer access either way.

Can’t wait to get started!

As for a league name, how about “Draft with Xtreme Prejudice”?

Taken from the military term of “Terminate with extreme prejudice,” seeing as how this will be pretty serious drafting going on.

I don’t care when we start drafting, I would think the earlier the better. I don’t see why we would have to wait until Monday to start. If somebody can’t get to their computer this weekend, oh well. It is a holiday weekend and the draft can be on hold until later. If everybody can do it, we could get through several rounds by Monday. I also think we shouldn’t do draft trading, that would just add more time to this. If we decide to do a keeper/dynasty league sometime in the future, we can do trades for that. And for the draft clock, I think we should just say that we should just try to make them as quickly as possible. Hopefully we can all check the site once a day or so, and if you know that you will be away for longer than that, let somebody else know what your top options would be and we can draft for you.

If you haven’t already, please go back and read through the thread. Much of what is discussed has been covered but people are (naturally) jumping in on the updated pages and seeing what’s been discussed before.

Much has gone on through emails behind the scenes. To wit:

There is one member who may need up to 30 hrs to make a selection due to professional obligations (med). I told him not to worry about it and suggested that a list be left if he has any heads up as to when he is working. If not, I believe we all agree we can wait.

Please consider that if you are within a handful of selections of your draft slot, leave a list with someone who has already drafted before you…this helps a lot.

There was this:

Email me if you work during the day and can only make a selection at nite. I’m on the east coast,so time zones are a consideration. Please include your handle if you choose to share this info.

&

Let me know how this works in with family and fun things you guys already have planned.

There were two responses + what I’ve read here.

I realize it’s May, but please, don’t take advantage. If I don’t know why a selection hasn’t been made after a reasonable length of time (with one exception [so far]about 12 hours) we will skip that choice and the next drafter is up. You can then make the selection any time you can.

IF you want, send me a phone # I can reach you at, that way either a choice can be made or you have a heads up. Let me know the parameters of when I could/should not call. I’ll do what I can to help.

I think I should be around for most of the weekend but I do have family in town so no guarantees. If we’re going with 12 hours then I should be able to make my picks….
