#1 Dynasty WR – Vote (Post Draft)

Time for the wideouts!

We ended our initial top to bottom dynasty voting well over a month ago, but now that the draft is over and we've had time to digest where these guys have landed, it will be interesting to do it again to see if our thinking has changed – no doubt it has.

For those who didn't participate last time, the way it works is everyone weighs in with their choice of the #1 dynasty WR and once we have enough concensus or the replies slow down, the winner is announced. Then we move on to #2 and so on until we have our Xtreme list of the top dynasty WRs as voted on by this forum. Threads will start for the other positions as this goes on (including IDP players).

For reference, check out our thread for the WRs started back in March –> Here.

So… the question is, if you were starting a new dynasty league in 2008, who would be at the top of your WR list, assuming PPR?

You could really make a case for about 4 different guys here, but I'll go with Moss here as well, despite his age.

Two words that should NEVER be used in the same sentence. Tuck. Rule.

Moss has enough years left in him that he's the guy (but Reggie Wayne is really close behind).

I have to go Wayne here…with Randy close behind.

This is going to be a very close race. Going with Wayne on this one.

Randy Moss

1) For 2008, Moss is 31, Wayne is 30.
2) Moss has scored at least 15 TDs in a season on 4 separate occasions, something only Jerry Rice has done
3) He is still, easily, the #1 red zone threat in the NFL

I am big on Reggie Wayne, but I think the whole "Randy is too old" thing is a wash, considering he's not much older than Wayne. Besides, always go with the more talented player, and it's pretty obvious that is Randy Moss

I still find it amusing people vote for Wayne because he’s “younger” when both are only months apart. Considering both players play in the top tier passing offenses with the top 2 QBs….that basically means some people out there think Reggie Wayne is just as talented as Randy Moss as a WR. Does anyone else find that more then slightly funny?

Wayne, I'm sorry but how many seasons has moss played again? it's not about age, Moss has a lot of mileage on those legs

Those "miles" sure seemed to hurt him last year as he was having the best season by a WR in NFL history. But settle for average if you want. I'll happily take the best.

I have Wayne barely above Fitz.

For those that said Moss and Wayne are only months apart in age, Moss is actually 1 year 9 months older. Not that I'm going off age for my reasoning for my pick, just pointing it out. I want consistency and Wayne is extremely consistant.

that's the beauty of things.

:)

Moss is a top pick primarily because of his talent. Wayne is a top pick primarily because of his QBs talent and because the true WR1 is a shadow of his former self

as for the mileage, he ain't a RB. Mileage is a whole lot different. :)

I do have Wayne 2nd in dynasty, however.

You can have Moss. I already am well aware that somebody would take him in the first round while I'm taking my stud running back. I would rather knock that out, then draft a young stud like Colston or Fitzgerald who will give me about 10 years of great production instead of 4 years of great production. OK, you are starting a brand new dynasty, which combo would you rather have for the next 5+ years…. Marshawn Lynch and Marqes Colston or Randy Moss and Earnest Graham? I'll go the "Average" route and build that dynasty.

Wide Receivers have mileage. You can't say that a deep threat like randy moss has been running deep routes for 11 years now and it's not taking a toll on him? It is. That's why the guy has to take so many plays off or else it would catch up to him. Now if he takes care of himself and doesn't start having problems(ie:torry holt and marvin harrison) then he will continue what he has been doing. Maybe he will be playing at 36 or 37 like joey galloway and will continue to put up elite numbers. Nobody really knows. All i know is, I don't want a 31 year old, 11 year wide receiver to be my main building block if I'm starting a dynasty league today.
