This kid is going to be a star: he ran a 4.64 at the combine…then ran a 4.53 at his pro-day. It was over-looked, so he fell on draft day. Scout.com says had he posted the 4.53 during combine, he may have gone late second/early third.
He's scored in each of this year's preseason games. He's got 'touchdown' written all over him; James may start, but I'm betting Hightower earns more carries than James during weeks 9-16. He's faster than James, as well.
Don't let the 'goaline' tag mislead you! Even so, think about the amount of trips that Arizona offense will be inside the 20! Defenses will have to play that offense square; can't load the box with Fitz and Boldin on the corners.
McFadden plays on offense with no passing threat - 8 man front
Stewart is nursing injury, while Williams has improved
Mendy looks lost; his TD run was through a lane that any of us could have run through
Forte (see McFadden)
Smith has all purpose qualities, but that Lion's defense will force the offense to pass in the second half
Rice might not have the frame to handle more than 15 touches a game
Chris Johnson might very well be the next Tatum Bell…a straight line runner who hits a crease a goes, not known for vision and/or change of direction (sound familiar)
Felix Jones (see Rice)
Hightower will provide more value than above; not saying pass on Mendy or McFadden…I'm saying this guy is a SUPER SLEEPER!

Umm, a 4.64 is a slow time. Everyone times faster at their pro day, that’s why they have them.
Did you watch his TDs? I could have scored the TD against the Saints.
You are reading too much into nothing.

Nah! Both of his TD runs were interior plays…and he bounced them both outside. I completely disagree.
It's all good; that's why we 'forum.'

Early before the preseason started, traded Hightower and 2009 2nd rounder for Lee Evans and 2009 1st rounder to the Edge owner. I then traded for Andre Johnson with that 1st rounder so I'm not so mad about losing Hightower. I do think he is good tho and is a solid player to own in dynasty

Chris Johnson will not be the next Tatum Bell, he is way more of a threat than Bell has or ever will think about being.
Hightower has been impressive in camp and pre-season games, but he is no more than a goal-line back and I personally doubt he'll ever be anything else, but this is just an opinion. He may end up being a scoring threat at the goal-line, but a starting HB in the NFL? not a chance.
I have been wrong on more than one occasion before, so who knows?

Uh by whom? Most people I know said that Barber would eventually spell the end of Julius Jones. It was only a matter of how long it would take.

I really like Hightower for his ADP. I just think anymore with all the split situations goal line backs are going to become more important. In that high powered Cardinals passing attack Hightower to me is a generic version of the '06 Brandon Jacobs. Lots of TD little yardage, and a nice bye week fill in or #4 in redraft even. I watched all his runs I like what I saw. Not sure if I see him as the future there, but he has value for right now for sure.

As a Hightower owner myself, I am hoping for big things from him as Edge's backup. Edge himself said in a sideline interview that he and Hightower will be a good tandem this season. That is saying something because Edge sees what this dude is doing in practice. I have heard the comparisons to MBIII from the coaching staff and I am hoping it is true.
But with that being said, and as much as I like Hightower, I'd still have to disagree with nyjetfanabout most of his analysis of the other rookie RBs. I got him in the 2nd round (traded Sammy Morris for him) but DMac, Mendy, Stewart, Forte, Smith, and Johnson should all be taken before Hightower due to ability and opportunity. I know Hightower is playing well in preseaon, but its only been a few weeks of exibition. Let's see what happens when the games start to count.
But again, I do think Lt. Moses Hightower (Police Academy) does have some skills and could become the next MBIII. I would just take some of the other rookies first.

I like Hightower a lot…the pre-season games are just the start. Don't forget they let the original backup go once they got a look at HighT. I might be a liitle higher on him than most though because I'm also an Edge owner and I plan on grabbing HighT early second rd. in my rookie draft.
I believe he is in that MBIII mold, he's also young with an aging vet in front of him.

Excellent discussion guys, really appreciate the respect you showed each other with dissenting opinions. This kind of dialogue makes these forums even more valuable as the season goes on…kudos & thanks!

I think anything is possible when it comes to RBs in the NFL these days. I knew about MBIII, but I personally never thought he would be where he is today. Look at all the RBs that exploded onto the scene at one point or another (Grant, Graham, Jacobs, Tiki, Gore and countless others). They all have one thing in common besides their ability, and that was an opportunity to play. Some of them were drafted higher than Hightower, but none of them were expected to do what they did.
I’ve watched Hightower and am impressed. May not be the fasted guy, but if he truly ran a 4.53 at pro-day then he’ll be ok. He fits Grim’s style of running game too. Not saying he’ll be the next MBIII, but you never know. If he gets an opportunity to start at some point this year or next due to injuries or Edge dropping off, he could do very well and surprise. For now though, expect goal-line duties.

My bad fellas…his subpar '40 time' was during his junior season; at his senior pro-day, he clocked in at 4.51.

Man, was I wrong about Chris Johnson. But closer on Hightower. Wish I had either one.
Hightower-owner in my league is done for the season. He's sitting on S-Jax and Peterson…he can't carry this much talent over to next year. I've got Schaub and Warner…he wants Schaub, leaving me with nothing for next year, but he gives me Hightower.
I'm in win-now mode. Do it? Schaub for Hightower?
That leaves me with Turner and Forte down the stretch; I'm sold on Forte's decline…I'm convinced it's only a matter of time.

OMG what are you smoking? And what ever you do don't share it.
McFadden has'nt even begun his career, he's know for his explosiveness not grinding.
What injury are you speaking of with Stewy? The toe that healed week 1? He's in a RBBC thats all.
Forte is a stud who has carried the ball 20+ times and is on a surprisingly balanced offence, just look at Ortons stats.
Rice, did you view week 9 game against the Browns? 21 carries 154 yards. Thats 6 more than 15 btw.
Chris Johnson is this years rookie of the year. If it was'nt for LenDales TD's Johnson might be in talks for the MVP vote. He's a top 10 RB.
Tatum Bell is a one year wonder. If at all.
Hightower is a great talent but he also played the Rams D. If those numbers came off the Ravens D i'd be impressed. He's a top 20 RB no doubt but he's on a team that throw.

Hey 'CRAPMAN,' check the date on the original post…mid-August maybe? It was a projection of the rookies, nothing more.
