i commisioner a small 8 man keeper league with just some friends and family, i am always on the lookout for a new way ot improve the league, my main goal is to make it as fair and equal across the board. there has been two new things that have come up in our "State of the league" meetings that may improve the experience. I am looking for your opinions on both.
#1 – #rd round reversal, it is a 3 player keepr with which you lose the draft pick 2 rounds earlier than the player you wish to keep was drafted, and our draft goes from worst to first. The idea of 3rd rd reversal to my understanding came to play last season and has now seems to be pretty popular, for those who dont know this is where you do serpentine for the first two rounds then when thrid round comes you jump back to the person who picked last and then continue to serpentine in the other direction, this gives the later teams in the first round a chance at better talent. My concern is that in an 8 team league there really is still very good players avcailabel at the end of round three and the beginning of round 4 that it is actually more advantageous to pick later. but just wondering your opinion
#2 – it always sucks to set your roster for the week, be satisfiesd with who you picked and sit down to watch the game and 5 minutes into the 1st quarter your RB goes down with a knee injury and is out for the game. What i have proposed and would like opinions on, is the ability to use a player who you have designated as your backup/reserve runner, for example, you have Westbrook, jones-drew, jamal lewis chris brown and kolby smith on your roster, yuou decide to start westbrook and jones drew. but put jamal lewis in your reserve back up positon, if westbrook goes down in the 1st quarter, and doesn't return, then all jamal lewis stats from 2nd 3rd and 4th quarter get used, since technically that is exactly what would happen in a real NFL game. Say jamal lewis ran for 60 yds and 2 scores in the first quarter of that game, that wouldnt count, only the stats he accumulated in the quarters after westbrook went out.
I have unfortunatley had players go down very ealry in games and it stinks, espescially in the playoffs, and with adrian peterson last year i was cringing every time he got hit last year. this would just make the games more fair, so that a team didnt win simply because your quarterback got hurt or a receiver pulled a hammy.
Anyway just a thought and would love opinions if either of these make any sense to anyone
