Need some opinions on this one. Would you do this deal ? We are a keeper league where we can keep 3 players from our team. But I'm also looking at this trade as I still have a great keeper but want to win the championship now.
L.Maroney for R.Johnson
I love Maroney's future and age (22) but I am concerned about his shoulder and can he carry the heavy load over the years???
As for Rudi (27) he has been so consistent over the 3 yrs avg 1350-1400 yds and 12 tds every year.
Also what would your projections be for both. Here are mine.
R.Johnson consisent again this year 13500 yds and 13 tds.
L.Maroney if healthy 1200 yds and 9 tds.

Who else are you keeping?
That would help me answer.
I like Rudi as he is Mr. Consistency.
I would love Maroney if he was 100%, but the fact that he's hurt already while he was sharing carries scares the crap out of me.
I'll try to answer.
If you have 2 rb studs already as keepers, then I'd keep Maroney.
If you have 2 young, unproven guys, then trade for Rudi.
If you have 1 rb and 1 other position, then I'd keep Rudi.

my 3 keepers would be rudi,L.J. and C.Johnson.
All other rb studs are gone as they are protected.
We only have to start 2 rb's if that helps.

Maroney has great upside, and if healthy will exceed your projection (I would say 1600 total yards and 12-14 scores) and outperform Rudi. That said his injuries are a concern and since I think the Pats will self-combust this season (I know I am in the minority on this) that could also hurt . . .
Tough call.
We need some more information: what pick do you have in the draft, what are your league scoring rules, and what do you give up to keep these players?
BTW I predict most guys on this forum will tell you to keep Maroney, although Rudi is getting picked earlier in many drafts

This league has 14 teams. I pick #14 but if I do this trade I'm also trying to convince this owner to switch 1st rounds so he would have #14 and I would have #6 then take the best available wr or rb available. The problem is the available rb's are slim.
The players you keep do not cost you any rounds but we also do the league by salary cap which makes it that much more fun and strategic on the players you pick. Scoring format is:
1 pt per 25yds rush/reciev
1 pt per 50 yds passing
6 pts for any td
.5 for receptions(we just added this this year)

I'd go with Maroney. I think the shoulder thing will go away. I see Irons taking over in a year or two. Maroney did prove he can play at the NFL level last year. Why do you think the Patriots didn't resign Dillon?

Basher if you want to win this year, go with Rudi but I think you'll regret letting Maroney go. It won't be the difference between their scoring that will win or lose you the championship. If you can pull off the trade to get the #6 , that's where the value lies, imo.
Who else do you have that might be considered desireable/tradeable? Package a (dif) player and your #14 and maybe you can move up without giving up so much.

If healthy, Maroney will produce more than that…he'll get the goal line carries that used to go to Dillon. The Pats are going to jump out on a lot of teams this year…then salt the game away by running it……Maroney, if healthy ~ 1400/12+.

Tough call, as Maroney does have a pretty high ceiling this year if healthy. I'd probably take the risk with Maroney in order to secure that future value, but you wouldn't be nuts to want Rudi for this year if you have a major title shot in front of you.

I would also go with Maroney as Buckett predicted it seems to be a Maroney sway to the forum.
I think Rudi is pobably good for about 1300 and 12. Maroney about 1250 and 11 for this year but a bright future ahead of him and as Smittyt said a shot to do much more than I predicted. It is all about the risk/reward chance on Maroney or old faithful with Rudi.
I would go with Maroney, but go with your gut.

Thanks guys for your opinions. I've been a fan of Maroney's from last year, that's why I traded for him. I was just concerned on his shoulder especially when the camp is so quiet-no surprise.
To add to Tavaner's comment I just made a trade in this leagueto improve my draft order. No players involved just draft picks I move up to #4 overall from #14 in exchange for switching picks in later rounds and he gets my 3rd and I get his 4th. But moving up 10 players in the 1st round out-weighs the 3rd round pick 40 players later.
