As a Peyton Manning owner (and a big time Colts fan) in a dynasty league, should I now seriously consider moving him?
Dungy retires, Marvin Harrison, Howard Mudd (their o-line coach who worked wonders), Dom Anile (a long time player/scouting consultant) are all gone and now it's being reported that his long time o-coordinator Tom Moore will retire this week. http://www.nationalfootballpos…..he-post-3/
I'm getting a bad feeling out of Indy this offseason, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a real drop in Manning's numbers and production. I think he'll still be in the top 10 QBs this year regardless, but is now the time to sell high????
Let's not forget that Jim Caldwell's record as a head coach at Wake Forest was an inspiring 26-63.

i say everyone on a team should be available in a trade the key is what would you get back for him
make a league wide post and see what you can get for him

I wouldnt worry to much about Manning yet. The loss of the o-coordinator isnt really going to hurt – Manning calls the plays anyways. Its not like they are going to bring in a new coach and take that part of Mannings game away from him.

Peyton is a top 7 dynasty QB. He still has two 4,000 yard seasons left in him, and Reggie Wayne and Anthony Gonzalez are legit receiving weapons. I like filbert818's advice to play the market. He is currently a beast, so only sell him for legit compensation. If not, you still have great value.

He has more then two 4k seasons left if you ask me, Peyton is one guy you don't have to worry about with the coaches leaving and such, he's incredibly smart so even a completely new system he'd master pretty quickly…Besides, Polian knows how to run that team so there is already someone in place who can keep the original system in place.
Mudd and Moore are old men, they have been bracing themselves for their departure for years now, a young gun will get promoted from within and you won't see a drop off at all.

All these guys make great points. I think you also have to consider the state of your own team – if you are rebuilding and are more than a few years away from really competing for a championship then moving Manning while his value is still very high is not a bad idea. If you have a solid team, I would ride Manning for the next 3 years as your starter. Bottom line for me is that QB is one of the easier positions to fill and having a stud is not required to win it all – therefore moving a guy at the position who has tremendous trade value can help a team in need rebuild.

For me to trade Peyton, I would have to be in rebuild mode and and be offered more than Peyton is worth. Peyton is one of my favorite players and I'm redskins fan. I think he has at least 5 years of top Qb production left in him. I love being able to stick him in my lineup and not having to worry about my QB spot. But I am keeping an eye out for his replacement but not in any hurry.

I'm also an owner of Manning so I'm in a similar situation (when to move him before it is too late) but I think I have a slightly different QB situation than you (I also have Cutler). Having Turner, Colston, Boldin, etc… I feel that I have a shot to win now so it would take quite a bit to entice me to part with one of my only players I feel I can just "plug in" & not worry about. Also having Cutler softens the blow of trading Manning for me… I think he will put up very good #s (top 5-7) over the next two years & I plan to try to move him sometime after next (2010) season after his value is closer to where it was pre-2008.
Just my $0.02…

I traded him last year in the other league I have with you. I wouldn't write him off, but I do think that if someone is willing to overpay for him, hten do it. That's what I did last year.

As long as Manning has the weapons and the OL, he could easily have 4-5 good seasons left in him. I think he is the safest player in FF and has been for the past 5 years.
However…if you are testing the trade waters, I'd wait until after this season. I see Manning throwing 40+ TDs and going over 4000 yards. The main reason is that the entire offense should have a healthy off season and the running game should be better with Brown and a healthy OL. Regardless if the coaching staff changes a little bit, the system is not and Manning basically runs the offense himself anyway. I think the DEF regresses a bit this season and that's good news for Manning owners…just all of us Brees owners!
Trade him next offseason after he goes off for nothing short of a King's ransom.
