I’m attempting to work a deal for the #2 overall rookie pick and have some ideas, but would like some input as well…. [he owns the #2 and #5 picks]
Standard scoring, 25 player, 12 team, salary cap dynasty league. I currently own just a 3rd rounder but have acquired a few extra picks for the 09 draft. We start 1QB/2RB/3WR/1TE.
I was considering offering one of A. Johnson or L. Fitzgerald. Given my team, is this a wise move or should I just stand pat?
My Team:
Brett Favre
Daunte Culpepper
Aaron Rodgers
Kurt Warner
Matt Leinart
Tatum Bell
Reggie Bush
Correll Buckhalter
Brian Westbrook
Kevin Jones
Kenton Keith
Antonio Pittman
Terrell Owens
Javon Walker
Andre Johnson
James Jones
Jacoby Jones
Justin Gage
Larry Fitzgerald
Chris Cooley
Owen Daniels
Jason Elam
Nick Folk
Pittsburg
Minnesota
His Team:
Vince Young
Chester Taylor
Ahman Green
Rueben Droughns
Brandon Jackson
Earnest Graham
Kenny Watson
Ryan Grant
Gary Russell
Musa Smith
Michael Turner
Vernand Morency
Mike Williams
Chris Henry
Craig Davis
Dwayne Jarrett
Chris Chambers
Drew Bennett
Mark Clayton
Brad Smith
Antonio Gates
Ben Troupe
Adam Vinatieri
New England

With Turner & Grant having slightly depressed value for various reasons…
Give him his choice of WR’s…if he is willing to trade you’ll get a yes, or a counter. I’d suggest you use one of the Jones (Jacoby, most likely) boy’s to sweeten the offer. You’ll know whether it can be expanded or not to get you the #2.
It may take a Walker/Bush combo with you getting something extra next year, another pick this year, or a player….like Henry ~ whose value is under the radar at the moment…I just don’t see CJ staying.
If refused you can then make an offer for Turner or Grant..maybe using Bush, then including a WR if need be.
He could use a QB….jes’ saying.

In a 14 team league I’m in, I traded my 1.04 and 1.06 for 1.02 and 3.04. The guy said he liked Ray Rice better than any of the “big 3″ RB’s. To each his own I always say, especially when I’m getting 1.02!!

Well I went after the #2 overall. I got a counter offer of:
My:
Larry Fitzgerald
Reggie Bush
Chris Cooley
For his:
Michael Turner
Antonio Gates
Chris Chambers
I’m leaning no but I feel as though I’m in the minority because I think Bush can bounce back and still produce top 12-15 numbers and be a legit #2 behind Westbrook without taking the major drop of losing Fitz….
I appreciate all thoughts and replies…

I think the deal is great for you, but it does not solve your issue with getting another RB. I do think Turner will be just as productive as Bush, Gates will be much better than Cooley, but Fitz will be much more productive than Chamber imo. The other downside to the deal is you get two Chargers.
Personally I would counter and offer Owens in place of Fitz. Age being the big reason on that. I really like Fitz and in dynasty would have a hard time letting him go.

Truthfully, I’d do Turner for Bush unless it’s a PPR.
Other than that I’m not a fan of the trade.
Problem is Gates & Chambers are options 2/3 on the same team. I’d be looking to move Gates if I had him as well. If V.Jackson continues to emerge this year those looks and touches will continue to be spread more evenly between options 2-4. Gates is still a top 3 TE but he’s not the unquestioned #1 he was, imo.
Fitz is the best player in this deal, imo…not a fan of trading away the best player in any deal… though there are always exceptions.
