There is an obvious interest in PPR ranking seeing the 300+ hits on my last PPR keeper post (11/21), so I will launch another PPR discussion focusing on the top 10 RB's in a PPR format. Below is my best shot, how does your look?
- A Peterson (regardless of format)
- S Jackson
- J Addai (as long as Peyton is in INDY, he has top 5 upside IMO)
- R Bush
- F Gore
- M Turner
- B Westbrook (keeps on tickin)
- L Tomlinson (cant give up on him yet)
- M Barber
- C Johnson (freak)
This one was tougher than I thought. I think we will see many variations here. I struggled putting Bush as high as I did, but the Saints have proven they are dedicated to throw to him A LOT and Brees is a great QB. Tough to leave off guys like Lynch, Forte and R Brown, but I had to make a call. Preference will dictate this list maybe more than any other position.
Let the debate begin.

Ok, here goes. This list leaves out Westbrook, LT, and Gore. Sorry but LT is on the down slide and his numbers this year in ppr are out of the top 10 and I believe he stays that way. Westbrook is great but he never plays a full season and that keeps him out of the top 10. Gore, that offense has no identity and next year will bring a new scheme.
1. AP 2. Turner 3. Forte 4. Barber 5. Portis 6. Reggie Bush 7. Thomas Jones 8. Steve Slaton 9. Stephen Jackson 10. MJD
Thomas Jones is a beast and as long as Favre is running that offense he will continue to be next year. Forte is the real deal and carrying that Chicago offense. Turner and that whole Falcon offense is only going to get better as Ryan get's more experience. Slaton is a young star on an improving team.
Call me crazy but these young backs look good this year and I think they will improve next year. The RB position in the NFL is stacked right now and I'm sorry but a few of the older guys are being pushed out of the top 10 but numbers don't lie and I don't see the guys on my list declining next year.

That leaves alot of great running backs off the board. One league I'm in counts return yards, and Leon Washington is #2 running back in points. How do I leave LJ off the list?

Very good topic fantasyfreak. Here's my view as of today, it will change several times lol…
1. A.P. no matter what format
2. M.Barber
3. S.Jackson (he needs to stay healthy, is a stud in ppr formats)
4. F.Gore
5. R.Bush before getting hurt was #2 rb in leagues…
6. M.Forte
7. J.Addai (I believe that offense will rebound in 2009)
8. M.Turner
9. MJD ( I love this kid and can be top 3 in 09 IMO)
10. C.Johnson
Just missed: Portis,Slaton,Westbrook,L.T.

There are so many good backs, some with down years and some with good years. I imagine we will get alot of different views on this one. Alot of the older dependable guys are being taken over by these young ones. Now will next year bring yet another change and Westbrook actually stays healthy, LT returns to form and regains the top spot??? Who knows. I know I left Addai out of my top 10 also and I believe he could actually be as high as #3 but also out of the top 10. Alot of good rbs in the NFL right now.

1.A.P. (Will be a #1 draft pick for awhile now)
2.B.Westbrook (Approaching 30, but still the key player in that potent NFC East)
3.C.Portis (Still under 28, this guy has injury concerns for the future, but a dependable draft pick in keeper leagues for now)
4.M.Forte (Less time share on a weak QB team, this spells winner here) *Chicago D, lifts him over Barber*
5.M.Barber (Stud, worried more about his future time share w/ F.Jones)
6.M.Lynch (If it wasn't for the offense, this guy would rock!)
7.M.Turner (Atlanta's power running scheme will produce even better #'s for Turner in 09' and pick 7 is a steal!)
8.F.Gore (Tough to judge, the niners are still in the rebuilding stage, but he's a nice choice late in the draft.)
9.L.T. (Lost a step this year, and his age is becoming more worrysome in keeper leagues.)
10.S.Jackson (This is as low as I would grab Jackson, his injuries and team are worse than MJD, and I would probably go for broke and draft either MJD, Chris Johnson or R.Bush here instead) *Still at pick 10, you have to beleive you are getting value here*

Quite a variety of opinions as expected. Any FFX experts have a top 10 PPR RB list to share? I think we all would be interested in seeing those. Thanks all.

Good topic for me as I think we are in the process of changing one of our pools to PPR. It makes a huge difference and now I’m a little pissed that I dealt away Reggie Bush last year. Oh well…those are the breaks. I have AP, Lynch and DAW as choices and I can only keep two

I understand your issue with trading away Reggie. Let me guess, the owner who got Reggie from you is the biggest PPR proponent?
You have 3 solid options, but I keep AP and Lynch if I am you. I like DAW, but Stewart is a hog and will have to be fed carries where Lynch is the only game in town. Close call IMO.

How can so many of you guys leave Westy off of this list? Yes, he is 29 years old. Yes he is an injury risk, but he is taking me into the playoffs right now. I believe strongly that Westy should be on this list.

He is definitely making it hard to leave him off. I know he is injury prone, but so are many others. I had him @ #7 on my original list, but he looks like he can keep producing for a couple more years! He was the #6 scoring RB in my PPR league and he missed time. Amazing.

1. MJD (#3 this year with a bunch of backup O-Lineman and Fred Taylor around…watch out next year!)
2. Reggie Bush (lead PPR RBs in scoring till injured..you can’t predict injury)
3. Westy (Rock solid and an automatic top 5 guy every year)
4. Matt Forte (100% of chicago offense and catches a ton of passes out of the backfield)
5. ADP (not a great pass catcher and in a timeshare, but young and great on the ground)
6. Frank Gore (Only RB in town and a gets good receptions. Just not sure what offense the team will run next year but Gore’s a stud)
7. Chris Johnson ( great PPR option with blazing speed, he’ll get his)
8. SJax (The team is a conplete mess…not his fault but D’s are keying on him since the Rams have nothing else. Doesn’t play though pain well)
9. Turner ( Young and solid on the ground. This low due to not catching any balls in the passing game and playing a last place schedule this year. He’s due for a let down next year)
10. Barber (I like the guy, really I do. But sooo many options in Dallas and they tend to forget about the guy. Now he has two other RBs that they want to get touches for….just not enough balls to go around.)

Keeper (in my eyes) is “who do I want to stick around for the next 2-3 years”
1) Adrian Peterson - all formats
MJD
Matt Forte
Chris Johnson
DeAngelo Williams
Steven Jackson
MBIII
Michael Turner
Steve Slaton
Frank Gore
I refuse to put Westy or Bush on here. Bush is too fragile and Westy is too frustrating.

LOL. OK then, I will make sure this thread gets 'bumped' up every once in a while because the interest in the PPR issue is clear.
With all due respect for your opinion on Bush, I find it very tough to leave him off over guys like Slaton and others who have had one good season and could potentially be a flash in the pan. Bush is a WR1 who you can play at RB. If he cant make it thru next year healthy, I will have no argument, but I still think the guy is ridiculousin PPR for the next 5-7 years and has Brees at QB. The emergence of P Thomas helps Bush IMO because he will evolve into a WR more and more knowing they have a guy like Thomas to pound the rock. All of this should help him stay healthy. Wishful thinking? Maybe.
Injuries are so hard to account for overall. Before this year guys like Andre Johnson and Steve Smith were labeled 'fragile' by many…… dont hear much of that anymore!
