hi,
a team just offered me a.gates + ced.benson (or ahman green) for a.p. + shockey + bob.engram. i know a.p. is on fire right now, but i’m leading the league 6-0 and planning for the playoffs. std yahoo league. here’s my roster…
QB romo, roethlisberger
RB gore, ronnie brown, edgerrin james, a.p.
WR steve smith, roy williams, boldin, berrian, engram
TE shockey
K stover
D pittsburgh, nyg
i was going to drop engram for another ww RB, anyhow, and drop nyg D (just a bye week filler) for a spot-start TE if i do this trade (gates on bye wk7). any ideas? thanks!!!

I’d stand pat, I like Gates, but he would never, ever put up 40 points in a game, AD ( “all day “, petersons REAL nickname) can do it again, certainly. I also think shockey’s best games are ahead of him this year, the giants have yet to really engage in a shootout since the dallas game…the sked is nice and soft secondary wise
the guy to move, to me, is Ronnie Brown, he HAS to come down to earth at some point, if you could swing shockey and brown for gates and another nice player, I’d do that.
IF , of course your league starts a TE

Right off the top without doing any reseach I would not trade AP. It looks like the Vikes are going to feed him the ball big time.
Really good looking roster. I would hang tight with it. You’re through your bye weeks with Gore and AP…I would hang tight

Do not trade AP!
I would move Shockey if I could; 37 targets (impressive), 18 receptions. If the owner of Gates would accept a Shockey/Brown or Edge combo for Gates and someone decent, I’d consider it…but bring it back here to get feedback from the guys.
Gates would be nice but I’d also look to upgrade with T.J. Housh. Edwards, Burress, or Bowe. You might get Holt cheap or Driver…G.B.’s last half of the season looks very productive for the WR.s. I’m guessing you start 2 RB’s / 3 WR’s @ yahoo.

I like Shock too, I own him in almost all my leagues, hes always just that one little tweak to the game away from being an absolute stud….but hes generally good enough to be considered one of the best options out there. I’d take him over almost all other TE except maybe gates & I have always like Witten too, he was down a bit last year but now I really really like him again with Romo this year

He doesn’t, he’s overhyped imo, reads his own press too much and doesn’t put in the time with Manning to develop the rapor that could make him, Manning and the NYG offense something special.

I agree Tav, but I think thats slowly changing. As Eli takes over the team and become the leader he CAN be, the others will buy into it and players on that team are going to be something special. Over the next 2 years I say that team will finally figure it all out and form a special team.

Eli is the man…as he takes over the leadership from all talk do nothing losers like Strahan, the team will get better.
( yes, I said it, i’ve watched strahan him play for years, NEVER makes a play in a big spot, ever. )
I agree about shock, he has more big drops than big catches in his career so far….and he is dumb as dirt, but he is the #2 option in the pass game behind Plax and the giants have some shootout type games coming up …. I think he has some multiple TD gams coming…or maybe i just hope that…

wow. thanks for your insight, all. after reading what you wrote, i’ll hold onto “all day” and counter with different shockey+RB combo. plus, with what’s written above about shockey, i’m not as concerned about playing him even if i don’t pull gates. hope i can help contribute to these boards. great help!

Shock was involved last nite, aggressive after the catch too….what the giants offensive guys need now is a team they are playing to not roll over and play dead by halftime, being up comfortably in the 4th quarter kills the pass game….I think when we settle into late season NFC/AFC east style football, the TE will be way more involved.
