Each and every fantasy football season we compete in several expert fantasy football leagues. The fantasy football draft results below are from the Website Experts League. This fantasy football expert league is a real league, not a mock draft, and it’s a redraft format with standard scoring plus PPR. The fantasy line-up requirements are: 1QB, 2RBs, 3WRs, 1 Flex option, 1TE, 1DST and 1K.
It’s easy to sling out fantasy football advice, but we feel it is extremely important to put our advice to the test. First follow our draft below as it happens, then follow our team throughout the season and watch us battle it out against some of the better fantasy football sites on the web.

I probably won't trade much, if at all, in this draft. I can't say I wouldn't accept a phenomenal offer if it came across my screen, but we try to roll with trading in some leagues and not in others. This is one of those non-trading leagues. We test drive a bunch of different strategies for your viewing pleasure… not trading is one strategy, so we will take it for a spin and put our advice, rankings and projections to the test. Enjoy and feel free to comment along the way.
The draft table above will be updated frequently as the picks come rolling in.

Keep an eye out for B.Jacobs falling to Round 4, and Wells falling to Round 6 in this type of format.

It's strange having Pierre Thomas as my first rusher, but I feel like this is a nice start in a PPR format.
QB1: Tom Brady
RB1: Pierre Thomas
RB2: _________
Flex: _________
WR1: Randy Moss
WR2: _________
WR3: _________
It's a good start, but different than I'm use to. Going Brady or Westy was a must for me at that 2nd round pick given the talent still left, but it is tough for me to use this strategy, as I usually attack RBs early even in PPR leagues.
Again, we attack all kinds of different strategies in all of the different leagues we do so we can prove that one can win using all kinds of strategies. We have a lot of PT fans here at FFX, so I'm sure many of you will trust in Thomas as a RB1 in PPR formats. I'm coming around when it comes to Thomas, I really am, It's just tough to consider him a RB1 when using a WR/QB/RB strategy just yet.

I've considered Thomas as a #1 in a ppr as well. The only difference is passing yards is 25=1.
In that scenario it's WR/WR/RB/QB from the 12 spot.

what about non-ppr from the 11 spot (out of 12)?

P Manning, Palmer; MJD, DMac, D Brown; Boldin, Bowe, Marshall, Walter, A Gonzalez; Lewis; Cards, Broncos; Kaeding
Start QB, RB, 2 WR, RB/WR, TE, D/ST, Kicker
Standard scoring, no PPR, all TDs 6 pts

i love reading threads like this cause it makes me feel warm for trading gates for thomas two months ago…especially when everyone laughed…if smitty has PT as his #1 rb in a league like this…PT WILL BE GOLDEN….larry johnson at #22?….hmmmmmm
you hear that gambler….smitty and tav love them some PT….

One of the strangest drafts I've seen. With Larry Johnson going in the 2nd. wow. Gates going before Peyton???????? Makes me question alot of these sites, and shows the importnace of finding a good one.
Can't believe that a team ended up with CJ, Gore, Peyton, and TO. and from the dreaded 12 spot. Moss and Brady is deadly, your team looks like it will compete well. Seeing you work some of these drafts builds credibility for the site, well done.

Thanks my friend. I took some RBs with my past few picks, not a strategy everyone would choose in a PPR format that starts 3WRs, but you have 2RBs and 1 Flex and in a PPR, I'm going to have a field day with my underrated rushing crew:
Brady, Tom NEP QB
Addai, Joseph IND RB
Brown, Donald IND RB
McCoy, LeSean PHI RB
Thomas, Pierre NOS RB
Wells, Chris ARI RB
Avery, Donnie STL WR
Moss, Randy NEP WR

Hey Smitty,
Was going to send you an email but I've been meaning to stop by these forums and…..well here was a good reason to come post.
What were your thoughts on the Bernard Scott pick?

AEOM it feels that way every year and most years I feel like "woooo I rocked that draft, chalk me up for the championship" but neither me nor Smitty has won one in this league. So I believe it's just the opposite as you said, these are the types of very good yet different guys that you should seek out on the web. There's a ton of copycat type rankings out there and…I really find it refreshing.
Smitty-love the Moss Brady combo.
3 rook RBs would have me nervous. It's simply a fact that not that many rookie RBs do extremely well every year. Last year was an especially great year so hopefully (for you) it's a trend; I mean then you are set here. I have Wells in a couple leagues already and I felt burned when he twisted his ankle. I can't believe he's a rook and my mind is already thinking "injury history". Know what I mean? I've been avoiding Westy like the plague and gotta say I think McCoy could be gold. My guess is Brown steals the starting spot or they annoy us all year with some 50/50 sharing each week. I wouldn't have done it but (as always) very open to the notion that going heavy on rook RBs could work out well.
Did you just miss on Moreno? lol
Avery looks like he'll be a gem. Are you thinking of trading him before Bulger's annual injury or is that overcompensating?
Pierre is not making me all warm and fuzzy. Can't decide why-good production, ridiculously high yardage offense. I like the pick alot though.
Last year you guys waited til round 20(or so it seemed) to draft tight ends. I thought there's no way that happens again. Well…I just couldn't leave Winslow on board for the 9th round. I just couldn't.

Bri, thanks for stopping by. Bri is from FootballHangout, everyone.
Nice line-up.
I'm happy about the rookies and always like rookie runners. Last year a handful played very well and I see the same for this year. Not every year it's like that, but I like this crew a ton, more than most.
Avery is going to be huge! Brady/Moss could carry anyone each week IMO. I feel the same about ADP, he could carry you.
Bernard Scott is all upside given the cost. The guy scores touchdowns for a living, he will fit right in if he can stay out of trouble. Lets hope he doesn't play for 5 NFL teams in 4 years like he did playing for 5 colleges in 4 years. :)
