Final Collection of Pre-April Bold Predictions

After Week 17, ANYONE on the Forums can NOMINATE that a bold prediction be entered into the final group (which will all be voted on to determine a winner). Two (2) votes are needed to move on to the voting period. (original thread with original posts)

1. Smitty - Santonio Holmes will finish as a top 5 WR in virtually every scoring format in 2008, and Michael Turner will finish as a top 8RB in virtually every scoring format in 2008.

2. canopener - Steven Jackson will be the #1 RB in 2008 in PPR and standard scoring leagues.

3. basher - Maurice Jones-Drew will be a top 5 fantasy RB in standard scoring systems.

4. Tusken10 - Brady Quinn will lead the Browns in TD passes this year!

5. Haimez40 - Steven Jackson gets suspended for some period in ‘08.

6. Hamebone - Randy Moss signs a big fat contract in the off season, and ends up outside the top 10 WR for the 2008 season.

7. PAFAS - If Derek Anderson stays at Cleveland, the #1 Reciever of 08′ season will be Braylon Edwards

8. Crescent Kid - Tomlinson will finish outside the top 20 RBs this year and his career takes a
dramatic downturn ala Shaun Alexander and he never recovers from being
a giant wimp in the AFC championship game.

9. Travdogg - Marshawn Lynch will be a top-3 RB, and win the rushing title!

10. iyoupe - in ppr league reggie bush loses sophmore jinx and finishes top three rb next year and reggie bush
gains over 2500 yards from scrimmage breaking marshall faulks record

11. tgilliam - Jay Cutler becomes a top-10 QB in 12-team fantasy leagues.

12. joeman - Favre dosen’t let the team know if he’s coming back until July & he says yes to one more year

13. packerbacker - Tavaris Jackson finishes as a top 10 qb and is the waiver wire pick up of the year.

14. phatman - Anthony Gonzalez will be the next super stud wide reciever in Indy along with Reggie
Wayne as the great Marvin Harrison will lapse into mediocrity.

15. Rotobradley - I’ll like to predict that the Vikings will have more rushing td’s than the Patriots have passing td’s.

16. FantasyAnalyst - Rashard Mendenhall will make all fantasy owners question why they didn’t draft him over McFadden when he tops McFadden in yards and TDs.

17. appocalypse187 - Marshall, Brandon DEN WR will be the #1 WR in all leagues and Cutler, Jay DEN QB puts up top 5 QB points in all leagues as Shanny gets pass happy in 2008 !!

18. Bendadee - Fred Taylor will not play next season becase of injuries suffered before the start of the season.

19. james00_33 - Joseph Addai finishes the season as the number 1 fantasy RB.

20. AllDay028 - Calvin Johnson WILL be at least a top-10 WR for 2008.

21. Gambler - Anquan Boldin shows the cards he’s still better then Fitz, leading the
team in receptions, yards, and TDs while cracking the top10 in WRs.

22. Infamous-D - Andre Johnson will stay healthy and lead all wide outs in TD’s.

23. Kethnaab - Neither (LT or AP) will be worth top 5 in 2008 & neither will Marshawn Lynch, and LJ will not place in the top 10.

24. Zep16 - A Jason Witten will have the most receptions in the 2008 season.

25. Findawg - Jake Delhomme back from IR puts up 30+ TD’s and is a top 10 QB at the end of the year.

26. Joe Divola - Ernest Graham puts up top 3 fantasy rb numbers.

27. ChuckeyCharles - Kurt Warner gets a second ring. The Arizona Cardinals will be led by Kurt Warner to their first ever and only… EVER… championship. This will be facilitated by the stud rookie running back (Mendenhall or Stewart) who will summon the ghosts of Terry Metcalf and Ottis Jerome Anderson who were previously unable to get the Big Red (a term reserved for those who loved them in St. Louis when we enjoyed potent offenses and no defense… BTW… fans in AZ are not
permitted to even refer casually to the Big Red nickname… but, I
digress) over the first hurdle… a playoff victory… after which the rest
will fall like dominos.

28. XYZMan - Adrian Peterson will exceed expectations by breaking the single season rushing record of 2,105
yards. In accomplishing this he will break his own single game mark by
running for over 300 yards in a game.

29. Marauder - Todd Heap will lead all TEs in Receptions and Yardage in 2008.

30. Tavaner - Lawrence Maroney emerges as a top 5 RB for the year putting up double
digit td’s and breaking the single season rushing record for the Pats.
Gotta add…the Patriots go undefeated and win the SB this year! ( my
original, but it’s not fantasy related)

Rules

After Week 17 of the 2008 NFL Regular season, we will ask everyone
to vote on these.. two (2) nominations needed to move forward to the
next round. Then we will have a poll posted, or take a forum post count
on what prediction deserves to be a winner, but you need to be
nominated twice to get to that second round where we vote.

Winner gets a free 2009 Subscription. If Smitty or Tavaner win, the first non-FFX Staffer/ or FFX contributor still gets the free subscription! Good luck!

Fixed. Thanks.

Let the contest begin! Obviously don't nominate until after Week 17, but comment along the way if anyone is shocked by a prediction coming true, wants to talk trash about their favorite player that was getting dumped on in this contest :)

Good luck!

Smitty, question. I've seen you mention this a few times… a free subscription to what? Will this site be going subscription based in the near future or are you talking about something else? Just wondering.

I think we all were wondering.

If the site is going in that direction I nominate myself 172 times. Thanks :)

Well, we charged in 2005 and 2006… we went free last year and announced that we would give back for a year, plus we wanted to get the name out there more. August 1st (likely date), the Site will require a subscription, ranging in the 13.99 to 24.99 range (for the entire year of use).

What will remain free:

- Forums

- Breaking News

- Probably the Draft Sim, but not sure on that one

Unfortunately we have to pay the bills, but we hope to keep it at a reasonable price…. but let me add that things are going to change here at FFX… for the better. We are going to be implementing some solid additions/changes soon. I'd keep an eye on the site today and tomorrow ;)

Can't promise that you will see something new, but pretty confident ;)

The Site will be worth the 19.99 for the year, the additions are going to be nice.

Whatever you want.. if it's only slightly bold, you may not win. If it's too bold, you may not land it, thus you can't win.

It's just whatever you think will “wow” people in hindsight come Week 17's end.

The Favre one is a beauty…did he retire for sure,I still have a shot being half right. After all the moves the Jets made & built for now team Favre would look good there for one year

I'm liking this one:

3. basher - Maurice Jones-Drew will be a top 5 fantasy RB in standard scoring systems.

There are bolder ones, and predictions more likely to come true, but this has the right combination for me to like it. Bold, but doable and I sure would love to see it happen myself!

OK you want bold? I got bold!

I say Willie Parker will win the rushing title!! (and yes, I d understan he will have to run for more yards then AP and LT and gasp! MJD but I think he can do it)

Seems most people don't even have him in the top 15 . . .

This bold prediction contest is closed, but save that for the next one in August, Brain! You can enter it there. It is bold, by the way :)
