Witten 2008 = Colston 2006? |
|
|
|
|
|
|
WTF does that mean? Witten will be an undrafted rookie WR that comes in and kills it this year?

Colston was a 7th round pick, I think it means when they get in the playoffs and the cowboys choke witten will be the receiver who fumbles

So, it's almost decision time:
Our Roster:
Peyton Manning, Ronnie Brown, Earnest Graham, Randy Moss, _____, ______ | _______
We're the third and fourth picks from now, these players are available. Again, this is not a PPR and we have two more WR spots to fill and one TE spot to fill, but our RBs could use some depth… but are the two WR spots more important? This is the fun part.
- Jonathan Stewart
- Kevin Smith
- Rashard Mendenhall
- Lee Evans
- Dwayne Bowe
- Roddy White
- Chris Cooley
- Derek Anderson
- Hines Ward
Quick Observations: This is absolutely one of those times where you're frustrated to see a QB like Derek Anderson left when you already have your QB and you paid big bucks (high draft pick) to get him. Still, though, I like Anderson, but Manning is HUGE in a 6 point per TD league. Manning and Moss will carry this team week in and week out, to the point where some Weeks I think this team is going to score a huge amount of points.
So, What's next? Everyone probably knows I like Mendy more than Kevin Smith and Jonathan Stewart, so if I go with a rookie, it will be Mendy first. Or, do I go White and Bowe, or Evans and White? My initial reaction, and this could change, is to go Evans and Mendy. Bowe commands consideration as well, though. I like Bowe a lot this year. White too. Such decisions!

that is a reall tough one I'd take Derek Anderson out because you have Manning, Lee Evans out because James Hardy is going to steal his TD catches, and Kevin Smith because I think top pick of round 6 is high and he might slide plus the Lions questionable line and talented receivers

No I wouldn't take Anderson, just listing him and saying that it's frustrating to see such a solid QB right here. D. Anderson here and MJD or Lych at 13 overall… it's a nice thoguht now, but those always occur. I think I'm going Bowe or Evans with one and Mendy with the other. I need a back for sure, with Ronnie coming off ACL surgery. Don't trust him all year. I love the value I got, but still need another upside RB and I love Mendy come mid-season.
Hardy doesn't scare me at all. If he even develops right away, which he could, it will only be a good thing for Evans. Evans will have room to run if Hardy is doing well.

Thoughts on the squads? I have to say, for a guy that normally always takes a RB in the first two rounds, I like this team… that said, not confident we would get so lucky and land the RBs we landed in just any draft.

Also I'm in the exact same situation as you witht he 10th pick in a 10 team draft but 1 WR/RB is 11 a stretch for MJD or should I take Portis/McGahee there
You know, not sure why, but I'm kinda avoiding Portis this year. I just don't have a great feeling about him. I'm not saying I won't change my view on that later, if I see him running smooth in that offense this pre-season, but I just feel like he is a great guy to grab if he slips awful far, but at 11 I'm taking someone else. McGahee and Lynch feel safe and secure, as do Bush and McGahee if it's a PPR. If it's not a PPR, LJ could fall and you wouldn't be nuts to go Moss/McGahee and come back around and grab a guy like Turner later. Turner will fall. So will Graham. Use the draft sim and crank out a few teams and post 'em in a new thread and let us know when the thread is up!

you kinda posted late but I feel the same way about Portis I wen McGahee and Willie Parker just because so many people here are on autodraft and he was ranked 17th plus he was doing great last year maybe had a rushing title until he got hurt and I plan later 6th round to take Mendenhall as my flex
then in the 3rd/4th I took Gates and Colston I'm just gonna get alot of late sleeper WRs to fill the second spot then as I was typing this I got ot the 5th/6th almost same situation as you Derek Anderson was till there took him and then Mendenhall plus it looks like CJ2 is gonna drop to me in the 7th as well as Lee Evans Dwayne Bowe Roddy White and Greg Jennings/Donald DRiver I for get which of the two is better
ok wow another update as I was typing this Calvin dropped to me and then took Jonathan Stewart to rotate with Mendenhall

I probably would have waited on Parker, not that your combo wont work out, but his ADP isn't that high, so he should slide. You landed a solid WR1 in Colston, though. Adn Gates is second only to maybe Witten.
So
Derek Anderson, Willis McGahee, Willie Parker/Mendy, Marques Colston, Calvin Johnson, Lee Evans or Bowe-type, Antonio Gates
Not bad. The only thing I would have done different is waited more than a round or two on Parker, but you did well.

Ok, back on point here… so, who were the steals and busts of this draft so far? Palmer was a steal at 5.06… Steve Smith at 3.05 is fantastic value, as well as Chad Johnson at 3.10!!! Chad at 3.10? I almost couldn't resist when I saw him there when on the clock before that, but I HAD TO go RB.

Braylon went after Andre and Colston which I find amazing, Marvin Harrison could have a good upside in the 5th, and then Welker at the end of the 4th was a good pick
Last time I'm gonna bring it up sorry but like I said 5 people didn't show up for the Draft so they are on auto pick and for some reason ESPN has Willie Parker ranked 17th overall so he was gonna be gone by the next time I picked, I would have waited for him because I knew he would have slided if people actually came to a draft

Oh, I see. My fault. I still think I would have let him go at the draft slot though, it just means a guy should fall to your next pick that shouldn't. I guess if you like him you like him and you got your guy. That's all that matters no matter what anyone thinks. That rushing attack is going to rock and you have it locked down, nice work. It will produce!
As for Braylon was a steal in this expert draft, but I think Chad and Smith more so. Chad especially. I was so close to grabbing him but just needed the rushers.

For busts why was Selvin Young taken so early top 20 pick no way he wasn't even drafted last year, and then Marion Barber at 6 was a reach I think Frank Gore was much better suited in that posistion Martz will use him like he did Marshal Faulk
And nice picks with Earnest Ghram and Lee Evans just see what Eanrest did last year in 10 games starting 1200 yards and 10 TDs

I think you're 100% right on Selvin and I agree Gore was WAY better than Barber. Barber is a solid RB2 for a person with any early second round draft slot. I don't like him as a RB1 because he has to go nuts to even be worth his draft spot.
Graham was a monster steal IMO, considering he could play just as well as Barber in 2008. While I still like my Manning pick due to this league's scoring (6 points per TD pass), I can say that one other route that could have worked maybe a bit better, or at least safer, was to take a Lynch with one of my 12/13 picks and snagged Derek Anderson way late. Anderson is atop 5QB to me, and while he will still be a grip of TDs behind Mannning this year, the RB upgrade could have worked out pretty well.
Still, given I snagged Graham and Brown late, I can't complain. I won't lie, the Manning/Randy strategy could have just as easily backfired. There was some luck to getting the RBs I did. If this league would have had a flex, I could have got burned.

Nice pickups there so late Heap when healthy which he should be has been great and Chestor Taylor is a good backup but he also adds extra value when AP goes down which he will, when he does then you can either set up a trade with him or keep him and watch him pull off a few hundred yard games
