I blew this off earlier, but I think it is actually picking up speed. I have a friend who has very good conections with the Seahawks, and talks to the players here and there. Word on the street is they are hot after MBIII, and then would release Shaun Alexander. The rumor is the Cowboys might sign Turner first crack and then trade MBIII for picks to Seatle, or keep MBIII to pair with Turner.
I originally heard this rumor very early today, and I totally thought it was a reaction to me giving him crap about Hackett leaving. I really think from him sticking to this story which he rarely does that this might have a little legs to it. Then Rosenhouse said Seatle was a player for MBII on ESPN.
From what I am hearing though the one thing that is consistent is the Cowboys trying to sign Turner early. Wether to run with MBIII if they don’t get the compensation they want, or to be the feature back with a rookie. They do get a first round pick from Seatle though that gives them a lot of draft fire power.
Make a long story short I think Turner gets signed very early.
If Turner went to Dallas I'd wet my pants!! Especially if them shipping Barber off was part of the deal!!

Don't count on that happening, Marion Barber III is much better than Michael Turner. And they can sign the Barbarian for less than Turner.
The only way they unload MB3 is if it is part of a deal to trade up so they can grab McFadden.

Dallas will make at least one big signing on the offensive side. The winner will be the last one standing because Jones wants to make a splash and he'll over pay once some of the bigger names in a small Fa pool are signed.
We can't rule out Moss now as I'm sure he's been contacted, imo, with a lucrative offer. Seems Stallworth, Berrian and Hackett would fit that mold as well. I doubt Turner would be interested in Dallas unless he was at the top of the chart but Turner/Barber seem awfully close to me. it's dancing on the edge of a precipice to potentially alienate Barber though, but chasing after Turner and essentially signing the one who gives you (Dallas) the better deal.

His first official visit is to ATLANTA today.
Seems like Atlanta and Detroit are the hottest for Turner. Guess the teams don't think too highly of Jones and Norwood.
And reading the previous posts, if the Saints for some reason did sign Turner, there is no way Deuce would be back.
Also you don't have till wait till June 1st to make a June 1st cut, you can cut 2 players before June 1st and apply the June 1st rule to their contracts.

im torn…im a huge lions fan…but also a turner dynasty owner…dont know what to make of him landing in detroit…one thing i do know is that they are going to run the damn football next year…kevin jones when healthy has been productive but you simply cant ignore his injuries…time to dump him rod and sign turner? hmmmm….atlanta? i read they are moving to a power running game but norwood is still there and he's proven to be at the least solid and will warrant 10-15 carries…wait one…im gonna go get an aspirin my head hurts….

I dont know that I would say Barber is "much better" than Turner but this upcoming 08 season should prove it one way or the other. As far as the relationship between Barber and the Cowboys I dont feel like the Cowboys see Barber as their prized back. He has, I believe but may be wrong, only started one game and in three years has had carries of 138, 135, and 204. You figure if they did believe in him, whether they had Julius Jones or not, he would see more carries and you probably wouldn't hear all this talk about the Cowboys trying to make a splash in FA or in the draft for a running back. I'm not saying that I dont think Barber isn't a hell of a RB but what I am saying is that Dallas doesn't have much faith in him when it comes to thinking of him as a feature 20-30 carry a game back.

That may be true, but Barber is much better. He is the RB opposing teams game plan for, not Julius Jones. And Turner is going to see this year what D's look like when they prepare specifically for you. There will be no LT tiring them out for him. Don't get me wrong, I think Turner will be a good back and a decent RB2, but I fail to see where he cracks the top 10. Barber will probably continue to split because Dallas seems to be afraid that MB3 will break himself with the way he runs. That would be fine, where Barber has been a high end RB2 the past 2 years without even starting. If the Cowboys will not give Barber their starting gig, you can bet that Turner isn't getting it either.

:| You know I disagree with this one lol
But Barber is insanely talented as well.
Dallas seems unlikely but anything is possible with Jerry Jones.

Dallas never once crossed my mind as a possible landing spot for Turner until today but………..wow ! ! ! IMO it is highly unlikely, but if for some reason it did happen, and MBIII got moved elsewhere, I can't imagine a better scenario.

I don't see Turner going to Dallas but just like Smitty said "anything is possible" especially with Jerry Jones involved. As far as the Turner/Barber debate, the 08 season should determine if Turner is as good as some of us think he is, barring injury or some other freak happening like a suspension of course.

Agree with all of that.
I think ATL could offer something today, but he may want to look around. ATL is not a well built team, he is far better off in HOU or CHI… DAL would be unbelievable, but tough to imagine.

As for the Turner vs. Barber debate, I seriously like Barber a ton. He is a fantastic runner and runs harder than almost any runner I've seen. I think Turner is the better runner for many reasons, but most importantly he is built to carry the ball 20+ times… Barber kind of isn't. Barber could do it, and might get the shot to try, but he wouldn't last nearly as long as a full-time back. How long is long? Well, he could go 2-4 seasons, I'm not saying as a starter he isn't in my top 12-14 overall in all formats… because he is… but Turner is in my top 10 dynasty as a starter, so he has the edge in my book no question. But that's me.
When you break off long runs constantly, hold franchise records in that department, as well as average a career 5.5 yards per carry average, on top of showing signs of brilliance with 147 yard games with a score on just 10 carries… you prove a lot. Turner has proven it to me. I have seen all I need to see. Elite and Turner belong in the same sentence.
Barber is special and has some talents no other runner has, though. I really like Barber and hope he does start, because for 2-4 seasons he will be a beast.

Can't believe we are about to start page 5 of this thread, and Turner hasn't even been traded yet. We could set a record here Smitty.

Did you see Schlereth on NFL Live today? Said Turner would be a Top 5 RB and Pro-Bowler next season! Looks like other people are high on Turner as well. Not just the peeps from this site! lol

I saw the interview. His exact quote was, after hearing that ATL is interested, that Turner has skill set of a top 5 RB (game-changing speed, tackle-breaking power), and if he goes to the NFC he'd be on their pro-bowl roster. Wingo looked like he was about to have a stroke. It was classic. I'd love to see it on YouTube.

I believe FarFromHome has it right, Blank has put on a full court press and the activities mentioned are typical of at least a strong leaning on Turner's part.
I believe Atl grabs Ryan with the #3 though. The OL rooks are deep enough that you can get a starter in the 2/3/4 rounds. Having Turner should also attract some FA talent as well as any late cuts in June or through the pre-season.
