Ya know, I thought I was being crafty offering Bernard Berrian for Edwards a few weeks back, after Berrian had a couple solid games. Little surprise, my offer was turned down. Last night, I was messaged by that owner wanting to know if I still wanted to make that trade. Now, Berrian is my 4/5 WR. I can roll without him, and one might make the argument that taking a chance on Braylon is worth it because I have 3 other solid wideouts. But, I'm not taking the offer. Know why? Because you can't count on the guy to get you a “baseline” (60-80 yards) score even on one of the highest scoring games of the year. I have no doubt that Braylon will put up another monster before the end of the season. But, I can't see myself using such a risky, hit-or-miss receiver - especially as the weather worsens and the schedule gets tougher. Edwards put up the bulk of his points early last year (I know, I traded for him week 6).
Unless you are a struggling team that needs a hailmary to win a playoff game, I pass on Edwards.
He's this year's ”Chad Johnson”. And what's more disturbing is that Chad Johnson wishes he was this year's “Chad Johnson”.
