Barrett Ruud was voted the #2 linebacker by the members of this forum, and Jon Beason was voted #3.
Who gets your vote for #4, assuming basic scoring rules?
Top LBs 1. Patrick Willis (thread) 2. Barrett Ruud (thread) 3. Jon Beason (thread)

Kirk Morrison – The Oakland O stinks, and other teams will run the ball all day. 99 solos and 36 assists last year, for a 27 year old MLB with 5 years in the league.

I was really hoping to gain some info from this. I don't have any IDP experience and was wanting to see how my opinions match up with everyone elses.

Ryans all the way. Younger and more of a consistent tackler than others not named Ruud/Beason/Willis.

I am not seeing a lot of interest in this so I am going to discontinue voting for the time being and try again at a later date.
For those that were hoping for this to continue, the fall-back position is to use Tavaner's IDP Rankings, which will be updated throughout the summer, or ask player-specific questions in this forum.

This is a good "launching point" for drafting a stud DE in the ever-shrinking world of the 4-3 stud DE.
In other words, reach for Willis, because he's the closest thing to 'guarantee' as there exists in all of fantasy football. Ruud and Beason aren't nearly as guaranteed, but they're still solid. Once you pass those up, the IDP decision of "LB4 or potenential DE1" becomes far more difficult unless you're in a very tackle-heavy league.
LB4? I can make solid arguments for DeMeco Ryans, but I'd take Jonathan Vilma over him anyday of the week and twice on Sundays.
I have serious lack of confidence in DeMeco. His downturn has been DRASTIC.
He went from THE LB1 to a high LB2 "with upside" to an upper LB3/lower LB2 last season. I don't like seeing a guy's value drop at an average of a full tier/season. That is bad news.
Jonathan Vilma is LB4 here.
Knee surgery?
Yes, knee surgery.
Yes 98 solos on a defense that had to play the pass constantly because of how well it scored on offense. Shanle and Fujita are hardly studs, so they won't be stealing much of anything. NO's DL played far below average and NO had very average tackle opportunities in 2008. Vilma still ended up a nostril hair's breadth from triple-digit solos. A slight uptick in DL play this season is all it'llt ake to get Vilma back over the hallowed triple-digit mark. I don't see him popping off another season like his sophmore campaign, but I can see him maintaining a consistent 100-25 as a floor for several more seasons.
