Story.

With McFadden going earlier and these teams potentially considering an RB: Carolina, Chicago, Detroit and Arizona all bunched together followed later by Houston, Tennessee and Seattle what does this do to your fantasy draft board?

Chicago chooses just before Detroit barring a draft day trade.

I feel like once McFadden, Stewart, and Mendenhall are gone teams will be addressing other needs besides the RB postition just because of the talent that is in this class. Almost everyone is in agreeance that those are the big three. After that it begins to get cloudy with the likes of R. Rice, F. Jones, K. Smith, and etc. I think teams will feel that they will be able to get a quality back even if they have to wait until the 2nd day. Because of this I could see one of these other guys possibly going to a team like Detroit or Houston and actually have a chance to start from day one. Because of this I think it is entirely possible that one of them could be drafted before a guy like Mendenhall or Stewart in fantasy drafts. I think either way McFadden falls at one but you never know if one of these other backs are given a shot at the starting gig right out of the gate that changes things alot. It’s hard for people to be patient that is why they would be more prone to select the guy who is going to produce now and not the one who it may take a few years for.

I’ve seen similar articles. It’s getting repetative I know, but I have Mendenhall and Stewart ahead of McFadden on my rookie board at this point.

Illinois product staying in-state, could be a great fit. I heard an interview the other day that said that Benson has to play better next year. So, obviously it reverts back to the year they went to the SB with 2 good backs.

This is probably a question for Bear’s fans but isn’t their OL in need of some upgrades? Im under the impression it’s not the same group that went to the SB; is it?

chicago picking mendy lowers him for me. I have him #1. If DMac goes to the Jets and Mendy goes to the Bears, then DMac moves up for me.

I agree that Mendenhall’s value would be dropped a little (VERY LITTLE since he’s a beast) if he went to the Bears. Here are my ‘grades’ on team situations… teams that are expected to draft a RB…

Jets - this could be an incredible situation and make a stud RB for years with that line! Thomas Jones will fade into the sunset. (Grade A)

Bengals - this situation isn’t going to be as great as it could be since they are losing their passing attack one day at a time (Grade C)

Broncos - great productivity as long as they don’t get in Shanahan’s doghouse (Grade B-)

Panthers - I like this situation a lot… I’d love to see them feed Mendenhall 20+ times a game while spelling him with DeAngelo Williams (Grade A-)

Bears - Lots of carries, lots of 8 in the box… all comes down to Rex’s ability to open things up (Grade D)

Lions - A lot of people like this scenario… not me. I think they are in for another long season with a rough O-Line (Grade C)

Cardinals - This is my 2nd favorite situation behind the Jets (Grade A-)

Texans - I’m not as high as others on this one. I could see the passing attack taking the next step this year which would make this pretty good though (Grade B+)

Seahawks - Not what it used to be, but still very promising (Grade B)

What do you guys think? Am I overlooking a particular team?

Really good summary…I pretty much agree with the assessment…I am one that does like the Lions a little better then that

Look, I like Stewart and Mendenhall a ton, I veen have Mendenhall possibly getting more yards very early in his career since he'll most likely go to a better situation. But long term, McFadden is the absolute top prospect in the draft, and there's no way you rate him lower than 2 RBs. Otherwise you're like guys who ranked ADP behind Lynch b/c he was “injury prone”, or Edge behind Ricky Williams b/c, well, he wasn't Ricky Williams. Just not smart to rate the consensus BEST RB behond other guys.

There are no absolutes…in life…much less fantasy.
Top prospect ~ means absolutely nothing. I’d copy and paste a bunch of busts but why bother…imo.
Consensus ~ uugghhh…a synonym for herd mentality.

I like Mendenhall and think he can be a good back in this league, but he won’t out do McFAd in stats this year regardless where he goes. The Bears can’t take anymore chances on runningbacks . There success rate isn’t very good with selecting at this position.
