Calvin Johnson’s FF value in ATL?

Some trade rumors are popping up suggesting ATL is trying to get DET’s #2 so that they can land WR Calvin Johnson. Does his long-term value go down in ATL, or will head coach Bobby Petrino finally make fantasy WRs in ATL?

Thoughts?

I don’t think Petrino’s stated goal of getting Vick to go through his reads/options and pass first is going to work. At this stage of his career a change like that might lead to other issues, like indecision, accuracy problems or forcing balls that become interceptions.

I think CJ’s fantasy value would take a huge hit in ATL.

I would have to disagree here. I am from Atl, so I have seen a lot of Vick. If you watch some Falcons games, you will see that Vick isn’t as bad as his stats show. He has more passes dropped than any other quarterback that I’ve seen, and I think that having a stud like C Johnson will help. Especially with Horn there to help out, both as a reciever and as another “coach” for Johnson to learn from. By no means will this change Vick into a Manning or Brady, but it will change his performance for the better. And man would that be fun to watch Vick and his running along with Johnson and the catches he makes.

I hope you are right. I think Horn will really help Vick in 2007, especially with all the changes going on with the offense and coaching staff. A vet is gonna help a ton!

I would agree with dpoynter. The Dirty Bird wideouts were awful last year.

I think Johnson would be a great fit in Atlanta. A year to learn from Horn before he becomes the man?? I could see it. Add in Vick scrambling and Johnson could get more than a few long bombs.

If ATL moves up and grabs CJ the whole Vick is not a fantasy producer could be laid to rest. With the aquistion of Horn and CJ I think you FINALLY see Vicks arm strength and he becomes a fantasy stud QB. Maybe 20-25 tds.

I hope you are right. It’s about time the Dirty Birds had something to cheer for besides Vick running for his life.

Vick should have a great year even without Horn. I think he will finally get it going under petrino. their run will be awesome too.

Vick is a producer when healthy, and he was last year…till he took the last few games off. I’m not as high on Horn helping out as the rest of you are. Professionally, yes; on the football field, I have serious doubts he can stay healthy though I agree that he upgrades their WR’s. He won’t drop the passes that the current wr’s have.

If CJ did go to ATL, Horn might shorten his learning curve by 1-2 years…a’la’Colston.

I agree with you if your going to land the best wr prospectto come around in years. Have someone there to teach him and guide him through the learning process…a’la’Carter & Moss
