Everyone expects them to go defense in the first but I wouldn’t be surprised if they pulled a little stunner at pick #32…MAN that feels great to say…

WITH PICK #32, THE COLTS SELECT….

But seriously, I think they could go WR or RB with that last pick. They have the best WR combo in the game but zero depth and Addai will be4 the starter but adding a bruiser back would only make this offense even better.

I can see M Bush, maybe B Leonard….I’d love to see someone like Steve Smith, A Gonzales, or maybe even a J Hill. A 3rd WR to replace Stokley and eventually become the #2 when Marvin hangs em up and Reggie becomes the #1.

The only problem I see with a lot of these guys is that they wouldn’t be great value as a first round pick and the Colts don’t have a second rounder.

They could very easily trade out of the first round for a pick or two in the second.

Hmm, interesting take.

However, I believe that the Colts will address the DT position. They had a tough run when it counted last season in the playoffs, but I think their defense would be much improved (as well as the overall team) if they draft someone like Justin Harrell, DT, Tennessee.

If the Colts do take a RB, like you say, boy would Addai owners be pissed :) - and anything is possible, my friend, we may be saying “you were right” Saturday afternoon.

I’m going to create a Post in our NFL Draft Section called “2007 NFL Draft Results Commentary”

Be sure to comment on the draft as it happens if you guys are online… or even after.

tusken10, there may actually be something to what you’re saying to be honest. Check out our most recent news posting on Addai. You never know what can happen on draft day.

They lost a lot in the secondary. I don’t know their depth but how can they not make a move up, or down to get a corner?

If they go WR maybe S. Smith or Gonzales out of Ohio St. Harrison is 35 or so, developing someone makes sense given that themakeup of the team guarantees play-offs for the foreseeable future.

I don’t think Harrell get’s past the second Pat’s pick, if he’s there and if they keep it (unlikely). Strange, I know, but he’d be a greater value pick than anyone else available.

The Colts will probably invest in a rb for sure, but prob not until the 2nd round or later. They will draft on D in round one, IMO.

I found this quote over on profootballtalk.com:

“As ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli correctly observed last week, cornerbacks are less valuable in the Tampa Two defense than they are in other schemes, since they primarily are asked to cover short zones and help defend against the run. Safeties, who are expected to have the speed to cover deep zones and the strength and toughness to make tackles, are much more valuable commodities in the attack that the Colts employ.”

Not saying that the Colts don’t need defensive help but they seem pretty confident in whom they already have which will allow them to be flexible in what positions they draft.

They have 8 DBs on the roster, of whom 4 made serious contributions to their Super Bowl run.

Sanders return which somehow energized that D. Bethea who had the goal-line pick against the Ravens. Jackson whose pick sealed the AFC Championship game and Hayden who returned the pick for a touchdown in the Super Bowl.

Losing David was a little tough but they received a 4th round pick in return, and the worst part about losing Harper is that he signed with a division rival but it’s all good.

I don’t know about you, but I like their DBs!

Well, we shall see soon enough. I think you are right, though, they will grab a back.. the question is just, how early will they grab ‘em? I say second round, or at least 3rd.

Thanks for the insights tusken, Indy has a lot more flexibility than I thought.

I don’t have much of a social life, if you couldn’t tell. ;)
