OK, for those of you sitting there with a top three pick in your rookie draft and feeling pretty darn good…look away.

Like everyone else I’ve been salivating over how to acquire a top three pick. Then my focus shifted as to who might want to draft a RB in the first…and options expanded. Between now, pro-days and draft day there will be a lot of shifting in how the draft shakes out. However it might be fun to speculate where these guys are going to go…and some may surprise you.

McFadden ~ the situation would have to be perfect before I took Mendenhall or Stewart before him but figure he goes to Atlanta (Turner a complement?), Oakland, or NYJ. What is the prognosis for each team…and just for fun…stats.

Mendenhall ~ Denver, Carolina, & Chicago are possible destinations. Prognosis/stats?

Stewart ~ Chicago, Detroit or Arizona are likely destinations. Prognosis/stats?

Jones ~ Houston, Tampa, or Dallas. Prognosis/stats?

Then we come to Seattle…who gets the golden ticket as (potentially) the #5 RB taken in the first? they need an RB and if they pass in round 1 the pickings will be decidedly slimmer at the bottom of two or three.

Some teams may opt to grab their RB in the 2-4 rounds but if you need an RB this is the year to get one. This is based on the first round only.

I think that the runners in this years draft are all so good that the team they go to will be a bigger factor than the actual player.

Player X going to the Raiders will not have a good year no matter who it is, as they will be splitting time with Rhodes, Bush and Huggy Bear.
Player Y will be great playing for the Jets and Player Z going to Houston may be the best of the bunch.

Someone is gonna end up getting most of the carries in Seattle, but they will not be getting any goal line carries. And someone else is going to be running the ball in the desert this year other than Edge. That RB may split carries this year and be a starter next year on a strong offense.

And I think the worst spots for any rookie RB to go fantasy wise are going to be CHI, CAR, Denver and Dallas.

I could not see Atlanta paying as much for Turner then getting any of the top RBs. Ithink they went with Turner so they could focus on other areas. Oakland…just…yuck. Too many RBs, too stupid of a team. If he gets picked up by the Jets, I pick him as a solid RB2 with a good 1400/10+ though. Of course, if Mendy or Stewart get picked by the Jets, I do the same thing.

Mendenhall ~ Denver, Carolina, & Chicago are possible destinations. Prognosis/stats?

chicago is a black hole of cess. I like his chances at Carolina, and think he has possible 1000-1200 and 8ish there. Denver, who the hell knows? Shanahan is a freak, they just brought Henry back, they have Selvin Young and Andre Hall…I’m sure he’d average 100 yards per game when he started, but he might only start 3 times in lord-knows-which games, and then he’ll get 7 or 8 carries per game in other games and frustrate the hell out of any owner FOOLISH enough to actually draft a Shanahan RB

Stewart ~ Chicago, Detroit or Arizona are likely destinations. Prognosis/stats?

I love his prospects at Arizona, and I’m okay with him at Detroit. KJ is too injury prone but he is still the starter and KJ will share carries until he gets injured. At that time, i think STewart will be a solid 8-10 points per game with a solid 15-20 point upside. See previous comments about Chicago. In AZ, I think Edge goes away and Stewart is a strong 1200ish, but short on TDs as they have too many receiving options. Leonard Pope, sleeper! (p.s. if Leinart plays, then Stewart’s stock rises as both Fitzie and Boldin’s drop)

Jones ~ Houston, Tampa, or Dallas. Prognosis/stats?

I will draft as a late RB2 in a deep league jones if he ends up with Houston. Not so much Tampa or Dallas. I don’t trust Dallas at all. MBIII is Jones’ upside, assuming MBIII actually go carries, which he doesn’t (Except near the goal line, thank goodness)

Not sure about Tampa. Earnest Graham is a helluva threat as he showed last year when he got his playing time. If he goes to Tampa, I’d be tempted to grab both Graham and Jones as a late round handcuff. If Jones goes to Houston, I could see him racking up some yards and some TDs. He’d compete as best rookie RB, upwards of 1300ish and close to double-digit TDs

Then we come to Seattle…who gets the golden ticket as (potentially) the #5 RB taken in the first? they need an RB and if they pass in round 1 the pickings will be decidedly slimmer at the bottom of two or three.

think they might reach for Ray Rice? I’m not sure they go with the run though, Hasselbeck really showed himself last season and Seattle committed to the pass with Hass lighting it up. He was right on Roeth and Favre’s ass last year in fantasy, and I can predict with extreme certainty that he will be a better fantasy QB than at least one of those 2 this year. :D

If Stewart or Mendenhall goes to Chicago, then I know not to draft the one who does. Chicago is where talented rbs go to die. The only situation I would like even less is to Denver and trying to hitch a ride on Shanahans “Rb wheel of insanity”. I hope Mendenhall to Det where he would take over the no 1 spot from Bell quite easily and Stewart to the Texans where the same would apply.

Great line! Where these RB’s land is going to change a lot of the mocks going on now. Our post draft mocks and discussions should help quite a bit in helping to decide talent vs situation. There will be a lot of that going on after the nfl draft.

I agree that I don't see him going to Atlanta…they have their RBs in Turner and Norwood…I think with so many other holes it would be a waste of a draft pick for them.

Mendenhall ~ Denver, Carolina, & Chicago are possible destinations. Prognosis/stats?

pretty legit landing spots, I'd put Denver really low percentage on the list, as I have said before Shanny seems to be able to find good RB talent late or even undrafted, so I don't think he'll use a 1st round pick on one. I think Carolina will want to give DeAng a shot before drafting an RB #1. Maybe bring in a vet to see how he does. I think Mendy will go to Chicago or Detroit. As others have said I don't like Chi…brutal offense and could hurt his chances. Maybe 800-1000yds 4 tds in Chi….Det I'd say 1000-1200 6-7tds.

Stewart ~ Chicago, Detroit or Arizona are likely destinations. Prognosis/stats?

I think all this are likely and you could add Houston to that. Arizona would be nice long term, but his stats will be depressed because of RBBC with James. Det or Chi would be roughly same stats as Mendy

Jones ~ Houston, Tampa, or Dallas. Prognosis/stats?

Houston would be nice for him because he'd split carries with Brown and eventually take over. I can't see Tampa taking him in Round #1 to be honest. They have Graham + Dunn + maybe Caddy…again too many other areas to address before RB. Dallas is a real possibility and I see him working in like they used Julius. Dallas would be lesser stats for sure because I see them riding MBIII…maybe 600 + 3 TDS….Houston 1000 + 5-6 TDS

didn't put stats for him. NYJ would be the most desirable….I'd say he still splits carries with Jones so he'd be 1200 + 8-9 tds….if it's the Raiders…who the heck knows…way too many options there and a really bad organization. he'd still get some decent stats 1000 + 7 tds..

I agree with MrMarbles per McF's landing spot. Looks like there will be some late climbers as well. Forte and Choice are making a late push.
