Hardcore fantasy managers have no doubt been following reports out of Mobile, Ala., via the NFL channel or the web. Some players stood out, some got hurt and others had mixed results, depending on who you were reading. With the game being played today, and no other football available I’d like to hear from you guys as to who catches your eye.
These seniors are the ones we’ll be drafting after the “stud” underclassmen are off the boards and you are going to want to have your own opinions. OR, you can take a cheat sheet at face value, wait for them to be generated, and hope the guy you snag in the 5th round of a rookie draft actually fits the offense or defense of the team who drafted him.
To begin with, I’ll just mention three guys…
Limas Sweed (wrist) will not play in the Senior Bowl after aggravating a prior wrist injury. Played against doctor’s advice. One guy loved him, another called him a big slow, possession receiver.
Early Doucet separated himself from other senior receiver’s with his consistency and crisp routes. Was also injured for the second time in the last few months.
Chris Johnsonblazing speed, good hands and a match-up nightmare for LB’s. He could also get your QB killed in blitz pickup…which is what contributed to Laurence Maroney being little more than a two down back (actually an afterthought) earlier this year.

LOL , i’m in a dynasty league and i recorded all the senior bowl shows so i can watch them and take notes later for my draft . i prepared alot better for our first 5 round rookie draft where i got J. Addai , V. Davis , G. Jennings , B. Marshall and M. Stovall . i know V. Davis hasn’t lived up to the hype but i’m still hopeful since it was 3 years ( all be it do to injury ) til Winslow did anything in the NFL and Stovall hasn’t done a thing but 3 dynasty studs out of 5 isn’t to shabby . now in my second draft the best thing i did was trade up and get both A. Peterson and M. Lynch , my other picks were B. Leonard , G. Wolfe and A. Bradshaw . since i had a down year in the draft last year i’m determined to have a better draft this year and it helps that i have already moved my 4th and 5th picks into the 3rd round . good luck to all hardcore fantasy nuts next year . cya

I like Chris Johnson, but his protection skills will hold him back, you’re right.
If you guys had to compare these WRs to NFL WRs, who are they. I’m talking about all of them… Jackson, all of them! What are their ceilings in the NFL… give names of players that they can become talent-wise.
Should be interesting..

While teams ultimately go to game tape to determine a rookie’s relative value here is an overview of players at the Senior Bowl.
These players helped themselves (consensus): QB Chad Henne, OT Chris Williams, CB Antonio Rodgers-Cromartie, WR Lavelle Hawkins, CB Leodis McKelvin, and DE Sedrick Ellis.
These players hurt themselves (consensus): QB Colt Brennan, DT Red Bryant, and QB Andre Woodson.
Reports for these players were split, some sites feeling they improved their stock, other’s not mentioning them: QB Eric Ainge, RB Matt Forte, RB Justin Forsett, RB Tashard Choice, WR Early Doucet, WR Andre Caldwell, WR Eddie Royal, DT Trevor Laws.
Mixed reviews were given to Adarius Bowman, Chris Johnson and Limas Sweed.
Chris Johnson is an example of how fickle reports were…one site mentioned how his inability to pick up a blitz had hurt his stock, while on another site a different RB was sited for the same troubles but the codicil was his stock had improved because that type of deficiency can be coached up.
Beware the work-out warriors from the combine!

From Dayton Daily News:
The Browns kept a watchful eye on Tulane RB Matt Forte throughout the week of practice at the Senior Bowl. The Browns met with the running back twice in Mobile. Whether the Browns sign Jamal Lewis or not they have a need for running back and Forte could be the heir apparent. Forte was a solid performer and was deemed the best running back on display in Mobile. The 6-foot-1, 221-pound bruiser is viewed as a scaled- back version of Lewis with speed, but still offering the same type of rugged running style.

LOL Tav…I believe you meant to say Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. It’s all good though…we knew where you were going with it…
You’re right though, there are many writers with differing opinions.

No probs Tav. The first time I saw his name, I went scrambling over to scout.com to see if they were related…I’m thinking I got me a super sleeper in some IDP leagues.
He sure showed up to play last week though, didn’t he!

He can play and we know how QB’s love to pick on the rookies. Not sure he’ll last to the third round in a rookie draft this year…unless it’s an 8-10 team league. Some scouts were so wowed that he may have moved up to the bottom of the first round in the nfl draft. Sites that update their player rankings have him in the top five (CB’s) already.
