Im going to take Crabtree #1 overall in rookie drafts. What kind of numbers do you expect for his rookie season?

I'm hoping he lands in the Great Northwest at # 4 (Seahawks). Ideal size, speed and hands for a WR in the NFL!

Does it offend you, Steelers0087, that seeing your screen name upsets me?
I think Crabtree's rookie campaign depends on his landing spot, but it's hard to expect a Colston like rookie year… or an Anquan Boldin like rookie year… and rookies that explode their rookie seasons always seem to be guys no one expected it from. Calvin had 48 receptions for 756 yards and 4TDs during his rookie season.
First off, he is probably going to a bad team, but 900 and 7 is possible. I think the third-year breakout WR theory is turning into the second-year WR theory, like I stated in our most recent article on the subject… so I think Crabtree is capable of Calvin Johnson type numbers in his second year, which were 78 receptions for 1331 yards and 12TDs.
If fantasy owners want instant stud-like results, I recommend drafting a RB with that No. 1 overall rookie pick in 2009. If you can wait on Crabtree, and need a WR more than a RB, or play in a PPR format, Crabtree is a solid choice.

I'm on record as saying he'll be close to a bust. He will keep a job in the NFL but never put up great numbers. Sort of like Branch numbers. The guy not only isn't fast, he's downright SLOW. He can't beat press coverage. He only got huge numbers by playing in a gimick passing offense compounded with a big 12 schedule that features no teams with a defense. Did you see what happened to him in their bowl game? *poof* disappeared!
I see people trying to compair him to Calvin and Fitz and it's laughable. He will never come close to those guys.

I have to be honest, I am liking him more and more each day. Earlier I was thinking he wouldn't be quite as good as most were projecting.. I keep watching more footage and I really am starting to like what I see. I mean, I've watched him during games in 2008, but the more footage I see the more I'm becoming convinced. This class will have two great WRs IMO. Crabtree will be one of them and prob a future top 5 stud. That's just my opinion, though, predicting rookie WRs is tough.

I agree with Gambler, he looked like a disaster in the bowl game.

So, I'm still confused as to why so many people get wrapped up in the speed of a WR. Yeah, it's nice to have, but it's not the end-all be-all. Crabtree has great size, he'll have great YAC due to his strenth and open field moves. Has great hands and supposedly are huge. He has a knack for getting open and can make the acrobatic catch when needed. Top 10 WR starting year 2 as Smitty mentioned.
Besides, with a name like "Crabtree", how can he not be destined for stardom?!?

In some cases you're right, being the fastest guy doesn't always mean you will succeed. It sure helps, though, but some rare slow guys excel at the position, this is true. Crabtree is fast enough.

Well, I'm just some idiot, but IMO not running sub 4.5 isn't the end of the world. Neither Larry Fitzgerald (4.63) nor Anquan Boldin (4.72) were even close & they seem to have done OK (averaging 85.2-1195-9.2 & 83.6-1082.6-6.66 respectively).
IMO he will do just fine making the transition from the NCAA to the NFL. Will he be another Calvin Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald??? That I’m not sold on. A top 15-25 fantasy WR is what I see in his future. Never quite one of the elite but right there on the cusp…
Just my $0.02

No way the Seahawks pass him up, at least I don't think he would slid past that. He could fit in fast with Seahawks. I could see the Rams wigging out though. Sounds funny, but they just might. My prediction if teams use common sense he lands with Seahawks.

Agree, he doesn't make it past Seattle. He's the perfect fit for the westcoast system. Then they move Branch to the slot where he belongs.

I thought the Chiefs pick before the Seahawks? I know the chiefs need help in a lot of areas but the combo of Bowe and Crabtree would give Haley a Fitz – Boldin type offensive threat.
