Sage and Tavaris are pukes…..They will never be NFL Quarterbacks….using them now is a waste of a good team just needing a good Quarterback

Favre is just a shell of himself(except with the same poor decision making and INTS) ….Sage is just as good of an option as Favre is at this point.  Favre getting voted to the Pro Bowl last year was questionable at best.  I am not sure why people think the reigning king of INTS is going to send them to the Superbowl

He is also the Touchdown King. You will never get rid of Favre, Favre will get rid of himself. And he wants out the same way Elway wanted out, He wants to retire a champ and no less will do. Plus hes a pre madonna and a media junky….But besides all of that I’ve watched him all my life and Id pick him in a heart beat over Sage “not ready to lead a team yet” Rosenfels or Tavaris “wanna be Vick” Jackson to lead a contender to the Superbowl. If the Vikes go with Favre they wont have to rely on him soley like in N.Y. There was no real talent around him there…..Now your talkin, Peterson to take major pressure off Favre and avg. receivers and a stout Defense that can change games…..Sorry dude no Sage or Tavaris here………

Citing sources close to free agent Brett Favre, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Favre signing with Minnesota is far from a done deal due to a “significant tear” in his right biceps tendon.

The Journal Sentinel calls the health of Favre's throwing arm “likely…the determining factor.” Favre's injury has reportedly improved little since last year. His options are playing hurt — which Favre did ineffectively in 2008 — or having arthroscopic surgery that would sideline him until training camp. The Vikings play just one cold-weather game in 2009, which helps, but Favre might balk if they tell him to fix the injury. He's never been a fan of surgery.

FOXSports' Jay Glazer reports that the Vikings' organization is “pretty much split” on the idea of signing free agent Brett Favre.

“This is Favre and Brad Childress (meeting later this week), that's all it is right now,” Glazer says. “The organization has not taken it that far.” Glazer adds that Favre signing with Minnesota would create an even greater divide between him and the Packers. Still, Favre doesn't seem concerned with Green Bay right now. If anything, he wants to get back at GM Ted Thompson.

Favre will only be effective in MIN if he has the surgery…if not, I don't think they can sign him.  This is an interesting topic though and makes for nice offseason discussion…again!

I don't think the QB's for the vikings are as big a problem as the coach is.

I'd like to see Favre make (another) comeback with Minnesota.  It would make those 2 games between the Vikings and Packers an absolute carnival!  He's meeting with Childress over dinner tonight!  This story is picking up steam!

Favre wants to go out on his terms.  The Packers tried to put him in a corner.  I'd like to see this happen.

PLUS I might get a free subscription if this happens…

Vikings team president Mark Wilf confirmed his club's interest in Brett Favre at a community outreach event this weekend.

“Certainly a player of Brett Favre's (credentials), a Hall of Fame quarterback, with the competitive (drive) he has, that is a player that we would have interest as we would have other players,” Wilf said. He wouldn't confirm any sort of meeting between Favre and a member of the Vikings' organization, saying those are the type of issues “we don't typically discuss publicly.”

Free agent Brett Favre has reportedly begun working out at Oak Grove High School in Hattiesburg (MS).

Favre did this last year, then went on to play for the Jets. The school's team chaplain observed, “His arm is there. He's had the same problem with his left arm that he's having with his right. Looking at him throwing, you can't tell there's anything wrong.” A close friend of Favre, the chaplain added, “He really sees Minnesota as a legitimate team that can go all the way.”

Everyone needs to realize that this is how Favre goes about his business… Just like last year he started working with the highschool team and this year its happening again. He probably won’t come out and say anything until late June. Then he will contact Good ol’Bus Cook and tell him to make the call. Once again he will come out and play. But this time its not to see what he can do with a team thats rebuilding, but a Superbowl or bust. If he does not take Minnesota at least to the the Conference game he has to walk away from the game, so he doesn’t embarrase himself .

Too late.  I can only speak for myself, but I lost a lot of respect for Favre throughout his (mis)handling of the Packers situation last season and this year's situation only solidifies for me.  It's not the fact that he wants to play, or even that he changes his mind every 5 minutes.  It is how he goes about it talking out of two sides of his mouth – there is a sliminess to it that really turns me off.  He needs to go away.

My wife is absolutely positive that Favre will play with the Purple this year.  I'm glad to hear you state the unfamiliar words of “Needs to go away”.  This whole frenzy was started by the media and my own personal opinion is this:

He's worsening his statute of one of the best QB's to ever play the game.  He's not Dan Marino or Joe Montana.  The best thing he can do is retire.  He gave it his best shot and the Jets had a better record, but they didn't end the season in a championship.  If he's looking for a championship, it's not going to come from any of the Vikings elite group of recievers.  Bottomline: He retired too early when the Packers had that 13-3 record and blew his chances.  Life hardly ever gives you a second chance, get over it, and live the rest of your life to the best of your ability and enjoy what's left of it.

What really cracks me up is Favre is absolutly horrible in that dome in Minn. Should be interesting how he plays for a dome home team.

Seperate question: Is Minn really building and outdoor stadium? or is that a rumor?

I am driving the Josh Johnson bandwagon……All Aboard

Never heard of this Favre guy. Is he any good?

Well it sounds like Childress has asked him to decide this week so we will see. Not sure why they would want to sign a QB they cant see throw at full strength this week though???
