You’ve got to read this to believe it. Cards fans must be weeping.

He can ASK for whatever he wants to. What he gets maybe something different.

Yeah the problem is the initial contract that the Cards signed him to. He is in line to make $31 M guaranteed over the next two seasons anyways. So he is not giving them a huge break, but dropping that to 25M is a little better for them.
I guess they did not see him hitting all the escalators in his contract.

31M is not guaranteed over two years. If AZ cuts him today (highly unlikely) they do not owe him a dime of that 31M. The leverage is in Fitz’s corner and he has certainly earned it by hitting some high goals.
I personally think AZ is low balling him with only 24 guaranteed over 6 years. I am sure the AZ can manage with the high salary charge of Fitz, and all the negative comments coming out of the front office is all bull and to gain leverage back thru the fan base. The man deserves his money and should be paid. I think 4/45 Mil with 22 in guarantee should do it.

It would be between 3-4mil cap hit though of dead money. He has them right where he needs them. They almost have to trade him. He deserves the money Calvin Johnson got that much?

I think Fitz is being pretty unselfish.
If it were me, I would accept nothing less than the 31 million or they cut me. Who wants to play in Arizona anyway, they are dysfunctional and have a cheap owner.
Why should he have to give up the money, the Cardinals signed the deal and he hit all the incentives. And now they are trying to get public perception against him, cheap a$$ Cardinals.
If Fitz got injured and didn’t hit any of his incentives, I don’t think the Cardinals would go up to him and give him free money because he didn’t hit any of the incentives.
This is such a BS double standard.

I know totally the opposite of what the owners say when player holds out. “You signed a deal to play for us now honor it” Fitz should flip that on them that is hillarious. They are quick to diss players and make it ugly if they hold out, but you never hear the owners catching crap outside the city papers.
God he would look good opposite TO in Dallas.haha Obviously I got Romo in Dynasty.

Just this past year, Kurt Warner would get a bonus for ending the year with a 90.0 QB rating.
He went in to the last game with a rating over 90, but ended the game and season with a 89.9 rating.
Did the Cardinals give him the bonus, even when Warner asked for it. Nope, they told him to go screw himself, and now I hope Fitz tells them the same thing.

Yea. 3 to 4 million dead money next year (2009). They will free up at least 10M if they cut him.

Saw the same rumor. Neither player interests the Cards, especially when you consider Sheppard is looking for a new contract now as well…not to mention his injury concerns.
The front office has really screwed this one up…Fitz has entire control of the situation and has had it since he signed his rookie contract. The WR has no motivation to re-structure and I can’t blame him, he’s produced. Losing out on FA this year is not a killer but if I’m an agent I’m looking for killer contracts like this one if my client wants to play for a contender.
Fitz is the winner in this one.

Don’t believe they even considered it, hence the rumor.
